The PS3’s Freeview-based PlayTV service got a fairly substantial update this morning, presumably to prepare the software for the Australian launch. The 24MB patch also includes the ability to “watch, pause and record high definition TV” although presumably this isn’t for the UK given the decoder in the PlayTV box. I certainly couldn’t see any such option once updated. Other features include multichannel audio playback, improved remote play usability, better standard definition upscaling, some firmware 3.0 requirements and support for Sony’s mobile phone remote play.
We’re assuming the EU Blog will report later today on this.
