Rumour: Slant Six Working On Star Wars: Battlefront Online

Kotaku are reporting this morning that SOCOM: Confrontation developers Slant Six are working in conjunction with LucasArts to create a new Battlefront game, this time an online only version. The game is apparently planned for both a PS3 and Xbox 360 release.

There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the Battlefront property of late; especially since Free Radical’s third outing was unceremoniously canned despite leaked footage getting many a Star Wars fan salivating uncontrollably. Battlefront is still a recognised brand, however, and it would appear LucasArts are keen on continuing the eternal Jedi versus Sith struggle.

The report stresses that the game is still very much in pre-production and hence we may never hear from it again. It’s intriguing though, especially considering the hex that seems to encircle this franchise like portents of foreboding doom. First Pandemic and then Free Radical. Are Slant Six going for the hat-trick of studios who succumb to the power of the Dark Side?
