Sonic Racing: PS3 Was Lead Platform

In an interview with TheSixthAxis to be published at midnight tonight, Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett candidly reveals that the PS3 was the “lead platform” for Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing, and “was generally more advanced throughout development.”

On the subject of smoothing out the framerate on the PS3 version (something that’s already happened on the 360), Lycett, known in the gaming community at S0L, says there “is an update that will come out” at the same time as some planned downloadable content.

“We’ve been fettling the engine since release,” he told TheSixthAxis, “so I think players will notice we’ve squeezed some more performance out of the system.”

Stay tuned to TSA for the full interview, which features discussion on the controversial DLC unlock key and the absence of any PS3-based mascots (and why) and how Banjo and Kazooie came to be a major part of the Xbox 360 version of the game.
