LBP2 Gets Community Features

We’ve briefly touched on LittleBigPlanet 2’s rack of new features, but one of the most interesting is the level of community support Media Molecule are bundling in, both in-game and out.

Of most relevance to those that think Sony have been slow to pick up on the type of cross-platform community stuff that Microsoft do so well is LBP.me, an external website (not yet up, of course) which will show every level and all the photos taken in each level.

In addition to this powerful new level browser (the server for which runs on the same box as the game’s main community server) each player will have their own page on the site, in the format of LBP.me/nofi where they’ll be able to read their “info stream”.

In order to assist level finding, each level will also have its own URL, which can be shared and queued up from the net to be downloaded to the game next time it’s switched on.  Players will also be able to browse their friends’ content, and use ‘QR codes’ to share levels via mobile phones and the PlayStation Eye.

All this is designed to make sharing the good levels much easier, and we think it’s all brilliant.
