Kinect Lifestyle Video

I’m going to try to be competely inpartial here – it’s early, I’ve not really slept but this appears to be the official Kinect lifestyle video, the one that’s meant to appeal to casual gamers.

I’ll be honest, though, and say that I’m a bit confused.  Do Microsoft really think there’s a market for such overly family based experiences on their Xbox 360, especially one that now looks like this?

I don’t know if it’s just the video, but there appears to be some insane lag too, from the boat jumping to the guys setting off on the track, the delay is there to see.  The graphics look great, though.

  1. OK, a few points
    – The lag looks awful even in this promo video
    – The games are ALL family/casual wii knockoffs. At least Sony are trying to retain their audience with a couple of Move titles.
    – The video is crindge-worthy and it manages to make the players look like morons – even more so than Wii players.
    – The name is awful, worse than Move and Wii.
    – Prepare to be bombarded by even more of those sickening family wii style ads.

Do Microsoft really think they are going to sell this to familys that already got burned when they brought a Wii, played it for a few weeks then left it sitting under the TV doing nothing for years after the novelty wore off? And do they think they can retain their already pretty low exclusive release schedule fo 360 titles when their 1st party devs will be developing for this as well? If not how will they retain their current gamers who certainly wont be bying this based on whats been shown?

  2. After watching the video, i actually produced a little bit of sick in my mouth…in the words of the late great Marlon Brando “The horrror”

  3. Seriously, how much money did MS pay that boy to humiliate himself like that? He can never leave his house again unless he wants to get ridiculed by the world… XD

  4. Naise.
