Speaking to GameTrailers, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has been pushing Kinect’s pricing as a key feature for the motion control device over Sony’s Move, despite the actual price still being kept a secret.
“I know the price,” he said in the interview, picked up by TVGB, “I think you’re going to really like the price. It’s gonna be a tough holiday for Sony,” he continued, bullishly.
He also seemed to think the Microsoft E3 press conference went down well. “We sat through the other competitive press briefings,” he said, “and people were very pleased with our position. I like being at Microsoft this holiday.”
He said that the only reason the price of Kinect is a secret is so that Microsoft “get more coverage” when it’s finally unveiled.

Well if he thinks their conference went well, he’s bound to think Kinect will do better, it’s a bit of opposite land where he is.

Haha, yep he definitely appears to be living in opposite land – I don’t see how they can give Sony a tough holiday when so many flaws have already been highlighted with kinect, and at the moment they haven’t really shown or talked about using it with anything other than social gaming. Yeah, social gaming is a market with a lot of potential but I’m fairly certain that most people if they are buying a console brand new this holiday would still choose the Wii because its that much cheaper and already has a large catalogue of games.
Sony on the other hand have a device that can be used for core gaming – I’ve already pre-ordered mine and I’m looking forward to getting it, I haven’t ordered enough for more than one person to play (unfortunately I don’t have the money), but with LBP2, KZ3, socom and sorcery (I really liked the look of it, looked kinda silly and fun) released within the few months after Move releases, I’m sure I’m gunna get plenty of use out of it.

What an Aaron Greenberg thing to say. ;p
JakeMadge
Was he watching the same conference as me? I thought Microsoft’s press conference was terrible and in my eyes its Microsoft who are in for a tough holiday
sabbat7001
I had the same thought. I watched all 3 presentations and Microsoft totally tanked IMO. It’s like they’re deluding themselves or something. “If we tell ourselves it was a great presentation then maybe everyone else will assume it was too”

I smell someone baking humble pie.

The kinect does look like a souped up eye toy. I don’t know about the microsoft conference, as I didn’t get a chance to watch it, but from what I’ve heard, EVERYONE said it was terrible.
edisinsane
I suspect Microsoft waited to see where Sony would price the Move and now they’re going to price the Kinect lower even if it means taking losses on the hardware just so they could undercut Sony.
This is exactly why I don’t buy MS products.
iAvernus
Maybe so, but hopefully people who know better would go for quality, rather than something cheap. I hope Sony’s Move does well when it’s released. I think it’ll be a big hit in Japan, as they seem to like being active while gaming more than the rest of us. I’m getting Move for sure.
STILLCANTTHINKOFAGOODPSNNAME
yeah that and they love porno games which would probably fall more in the *wave your hands around like a degenerative parasite* camp although there is a argument that move resembles a sexual stimulation device so it appears that the motion control wars will be decided by the sexually deprived perverted japanese
iAvernus
LOL! In that case Sony wins I think =)
sesameseed
wtf with this holiday thing? why does he keep talking about holidays? join the real world and speak english ffs!
Danza Di Fuoco
I hate the holidays….
STILLCANTTHINKOFAGOODPSNNAME
oh big fuckin surprise someone from microsoft thinks that a microsoft product will be more successful than its competitors =l in other news its been discovered that cats like to kill things
Bladesteel
Shit. That’s why they always look at me in that funny way? I’m getting a dog, right now.
I agree most of this is non-news except for the hinting that now kinect will be priced lower than move. (As it should be, after all it’s a glorified webcam)
Mick939
I’d doubt it Sony have generally turned themselves around lately and the move looks ace not massivley redundant like the connect. Come on who wants to use there hand as a gun! One rather big thing we sold loooooads of ps3s for red dead and FIFA but nobody came in speofically for a xbox for those games. People tend to see the ps3 as the affordable epitome and the xbox a bit more of a childs console.
OptimusGoz
ummmmmm im ive seen preorders for both here in australia already, kinetic is $198 and a move controller is $68, the other thing is $48, so i dont see how a bundle with the camera will end up being more epxensive than kinetic. hes talking out his ass.
mrbojangles
I believe you mean kinect.
Raen
Those pre-orders are based solely off of rumour and speculation right now.
