MS: Hardcore Will Buy Kinect First

In an interview with CVG, worldwide product marketing manager for XBox, Ryan Moore, has said that hardcore gamers (he means you) will be the early adopters of the technology.

“I think we know that hardcore gamers will be the first to go out and buy it, as they are with any product.” said Moore.

He then gives the most convincing argument ever why hardcore gamers should buy in to the new tech.

“We know we have to have a wide range of experiences, from things like the animals game you saw today to… to… games that are more geared towards the core.”

It appears that the worldwide product marketing manager for XBox has trouble naming any hardcore titles for his new product which you hardcore gamers are going to buy.

  1. Move – pre-oredered.

    Kinect – not.

That ‘hardcore’ enough for you MS?

    • Jeez, F7 man!

      Pre-ordered.

That was like storming out of your house after an argument, and then having to knock on the door because you’ve forgotten your keys!

  2. witch one is the core game or have i missed something because i saw no hardcore games at E3

    • I’m with you, I saw no hardcore game, to be honest I wouldn’t know what a ‘hardcore’ kinect game would look like…

  3. The hardcore gamers will go out and buy Kinect because MS haven’t released any decent exclusive titles for ages, and the ‘core need to continue to justify the purchase of their 360 over the competition. No doubt it’ll release in the Christmas hols, and loads of uneducated parents will pick it up because it’s the ‘next big thing’ (to sit under your TV).

    • No decent exclusives in ages? Well that’s obviously a matter of opinion, now isn’t it.

      Gears of War Series
Halo (don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but it’s kind of a big deal)
      Left 4 Dead Series
      Fable Series

All of these have had releases in the lest year or will have one by mid next year. You might not like any of these games (as sony fanboys tend not to) but don’t make an ass of your self and assume that all the poeple who buy them don’t, and now need to “justify” purchasing a 360.

If ignorant people like you would learn to apprecite the merits of both systems (or atleast stop trying to point out or fabricate short comings of the one you don’t own), instead of riding either Sony or MS’s d*ck, the internet would be a better place.

      • OUCH!

      • You also forgot Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction and Metro2033.. :)

  4. Is “hardcore gamers” Microsoft code for ‘fanboys’ now or something? Because those are really the only ones I can see buying this thing day one. Once that initial rush, assuming there even is one, dies down, what is it going to have left to offer for everyone else? Not a lot from what I can see.

Everything Kinect does seems like it could be done far more conveniently with a controller. In a case of novelty versus convenience, novelty will always only last so long.

    • I completely agree, a controller is far more convenient than waving your arms about or shouting at the mic. The only way I can see kinect being relevant is for people for whom a controller becomes a problem, in my mind at least that would be the very young or the older generations – not the core gaming market. Sure they’ve created a device that’s pretty clever and can be impressive in some of the ways it works, but it falls down at the practical applications.

I honestly think if they actually had a strong line-up of ‘hardcore’ games we would have seen it by now because they would want to be showing them off. All we’ve had so far is a lot of hot air…

      • Core gaming market has been loss making since the 360 début and these loses were widened since the PS3 was born – not just the platform holders but the major publishing houses as well.

The boards of these companies might be believing that core = loss, casual = profit.

Perhaps they think the more casual your market the more profit you make.

  5. Lolz!

    • Just because you can describe anyone that buys something at launch as ‘hardcore’ it doesn’t mean that is the market nor the majority of purchasers for the product.

  6. I DONT WANT TO SIMPLY CATCH A BIG RED BALL.

    • Then shoot the ball with you’re hands, “Pew pew pew”. There must be a obtion for that…

    • You’re not supposed to catch it ;)

  7. Hes obviously going to say stuff like this, hes a MS employee wanting to promote a MS product to the customers that the product OBVIOUSLY won’t appeal to as much.

  8. *big fat SIGH!*

  9. what was he smoking, snorting, injecting? o_O
i know he’s only trying to promote his company’s product, but what hardcore gamers, the ones that have spent billions of hours collectively playing the halos and the call of dutys, are going to be first in like to play kinectimals?
those with kids might buy it, but certainly not for themselves.

  10. Son, I am disappoint.
