Blacklight: Tango Down Delayed

Blacklight: Tango Down, the Zombie Studios downloadable multi-player FPS, is facing a delay on the PlayStation 3. Developers Ignition Entertainment have mentioned on their Twitter feed the title won’t now be arriving until later than planned.

It was originally thought that it would be landing within a week or two of its XBLA début on July 7th, but after announcing the release of the PC version today they were asked about the PS3 version to which they replied mid to late August. The reason for the delay is down to quality or stability on the platform.

Some PS3 features are taking longer to get right than originally planned, and we don’t want to just ship it if it ain’t right.

Quite right too, the last thing we want is a repeat of the problems which dogged Battlefield 1943 and Fat Princess in their early days. According to the publishers, Blacklight: Tango Down is a fast-paced multiplayer shooter set in the dystopian future version of Eastern Europe. Developed with Unreal Engine 3, Blacklight: Tango Downs looks and plays like a full price AAA game but costs only $15. So let’s hope the problems are sorted sooner rather than later.

Thanks, CNWLshadow.

  1. To bad, no Blacklight for me then! late august is MAFIA 2 time.
and from then on the “new” mad gameseason starts.
To bad they delayed it that long!

    • What, a little over a month?! Aint that long mate!

      • Dont think he’s complaining about the actual lenght of the delay, but the timing. Besides, the game is crap anyhow.

  2. Only 15 bucks, tempting… don’t mind waiting, got a number of games to play first

    • You should go for it when it comes out, for the price of a MW2 map pack you get what looks to be a decent game. Take a look at this http://www.thesixthaxis.com/forum/playstation-news/blacklight-tango-down-delayed/ it outlines some of the game features.

      • It’s not that great. I tried the Trial Version on XBL. The Visor is supposed to be the big draw but it feels very gimmicy. You have to stand still to use it so that kinds putts a damper on the whole “fast paced” thing. And the “mini games” that you do while activation bombs etc is a Simon Says knock off which really isn’t fun.

Maybe the co-op mode is fun with some friends, but i don’t think it’ll have any lasting appeal. Better off getting the Onslaught DLC for BC2 (if you have BC2 obviously).

  3. I will still be buying it, it looks brilliant- and the price is just a sweetener. It’s one of thoose few games which dares break the boundaies between DLC pricing and AAA title quality, which I think more devs should try. Sure the graphics in Blacklight are not as polished as an AAA title but the gameplay looks fun. The same goes for Joe Danger- yes its missing a proper level sharing tool, but this is overshadowed by the great gameplay and replay value.

  4. Actually the day Xbox360 version was released they stated its going to take ‘about 6 weeks’ for PS3 version to come out so nothing new here.

  5. I really don’t like this game at all ha.

    • Same here. Very run-of-the-mill gameplay with decent graphics and a visor system that takes away more than it adds.

  6. This game is more FUBARed if you ask me.

  7. The PC version was only released today but already a Blacklight follow up in the works. http://news.bigdownload.com/tag/blacklight-tango-down-2 . Seeing as its only been out for a week on a single platform it must of been an instant success for them to feel confidant to make a follow up so shortly after the first.

  8. Blacklight: Tango Down 2 Confirmed For 2011 they need to get the PSN one finished first lol.

  9. Shame about the delay. I have been looking forward to this for ages now, so I guess I will buy if on XBLA when my new shiny Xbox arrives in the morning!
