PSN Down For “Emergency” Maintenance

Community moderator Yaster has posted on the Official EU Forums that the PlayStation Network will go down tonight for “emergency maintenance”.  The downtime will start at 5pm BST and run through until 9pm BST.

“For the first 45 minutes of this maintenance,” he says, “you’ll be unable to access the PS Store, Account Management or Registration pages. If you attempt to access these pages you’ll receive a maintenance notification.”

“You may, however, be able to sign-in to PSN (assuming you have done so previously on the PS3/PSP you’re using) and play online titles,” he confirmed.

When asked what the emergency was by a member of the forums, Yaster replied; “Can’t really say to be honest. Mainly because I don’t know myself what’s going on with it.”

Sounds like whatever’s going on needs to be fixed pretty quickly.

  2. Not on a Thursday! My wife always goes out on a Thursday.. It’s my PlayStation time!!!

    • If you are unable to play online just play a game offline, you still get your PS time and don’t have to file for divorce.

      • Oh yeah.. I forget I have offline games – I might actually complete the MW2 campaign or manage to get round to Split/Second!

      • Or just play with your handheld ;)

    • LOL – I have “Playstation time” sessions when my wife is out too – and it happens she is away tonight on business. Wonder if I can leave work a little bit early tonight to get home and download the couple of demos from yesterday before 5pm…..

      • im in the same boat… my girlfirned is out i had planned to site on the sofa with a nice big bag of chrisps a 2L bottle of coke and kick ass online….

        but alas…i will have to watch some of the many programs i have recorded…joy lol

    • We can still play online thank god, hope the problems don’t spill on to online play though..

      • yup, I got the tweet back from Mike Kebby, nice chap that he is, and he said Online will be fine.
        So yes, UTB is on.

  6. Fortunatly Im going out tonight so this won’t affect me for once. Everyone should sign in before 5pm and stay signed in! Last time for the mainteenance, they said that aslong as you had signed it recently, it would work; it didn’t.

  10. O-well I’m banned for one month for ‘offensive and abuse text’. But I think that’s a lie and it’s because a SCEE community MOD didn’t like our conversation. He was insulting me but he gets nothing done to him.. Gosh I hate Sony and their stupid banning system. *sigh*
