More Blur Planned

It’s no secret that Blur under performed when it was released earlier this year.  Despite humorous advertising and a very solid game, not that many people took up the challenge and it can now be found languising in the ‘naughty corner’ of most game retailers.

This hasn’t put off Bizarre though, as it has said it considers Blur to be the start of a big franchise and it plans to develop more games in the series.

Nick Davies – producer at Bizarre – puts the slow sales down to the period in which the game was released.  Going up against Split/Second and ModNation Racers was never going to be an easy task, although did any of them actually perform as well as hoped?

Despite the glut of quality racing games heading our way, the prospect of a new Blur is pleasing – hopefully the sequel will have an easier ride and not be sandwiched between similar games.

  1. Brilliant game, one of the few PS3 games that’s rock solid online. You even get comms while the race is loading! Imagine!

    Great fun with friends online…

  2. I love the multiplayer split screen, had some good races with friends, needs more maps and colours though!

  3. I absolutely love Blur, and the online is totally rock solid. Not had a single blip in comms, the party system works perfectly, and there is no lag whatsoever.

The MP progression is totally addictive, throwing out new modes, mods, challenges and cars every other level or so, and you can build up XP (sorry “Fans”) without having to win races.

What’s sad is how it has been overlooked. Last night online there were 1056 players, which is, frankly, criminal.

Come on, people, it’s £19.85 at ShopTo.

Hoping for some DLC at least – the game checks for it every time you boot it up, so it obviously factored in their original plans.

The release timing probably hurt all three of these arcade driving games released within a week or two of each other.

  4. I went for Split Second mainly because I’m more of a single player person, although I have played a few races online. I’ll probably pick Blur up cheap at some point though.
MNR is pretty much the only game I play online regularly.

  5. Il probably buy it soon when it’s a wee bit cheaper. It had an fsdu at work and changed the following week, that doesn’t happen, the fsdus can last months so it must of sold fuck all in our company

    • What the bejesus !?? please translate !

      • i think he means free standing display unit’s…

      • ah ok thanks funky ! I wouldnt have got that in a million years , iv’e never worked in a shop . Im a trucker me , open road and all that .

  6. yeah, id buy it when its about a tenner or so, too much other games to keep me going at the mo! :)

  7. Just to point out – unless it’s been done on this thread already, in which I will start taking my attentive pills again – that both Blur and Split/Second are still in the games charts, so all is not lost.

  8. Would be ok if it didn’t have (what seems to be all the)connection issues.

I downloaded the demo and am yet to actually be able to play online. It’s pathetic and the customer support doesn’t seem to be much better.

What with all that and me not actually being able to log onto the main site. My details are the same as on the customer support site but the server doesn’t seem to recognise me and it says my details don’t exist, despite the fact it managed to find my ID and Password and send them to me. Further confirming the fact I was not typing them wrong.

    • I avoided downloading the demo just in case it was like you describe…seems I was right. My choice was Split Second and that is awesomeness which I would fully recommend if you need a racer to fill the gap. Blur sounds a bit Meh to be honest even though it is nice and cheap….hope I don’t eat these words.

  9. The game I would not like to see in the future…. or next year?
