Judging from the majority of comments on yesterday’s Kinect price announcement, Microsoft seems to have struck a nerve, with most of our readers saying the cost – £130 – is simply too high. Well now a couple of charts have been released showing Microsoft’s justification for the $150 price tag showing the costs against the PlayStation Move and the Wii for those that own a console already, and for those that don’t:

Interesting charts, and the first thing that springs to mind is that – if this is a true like for like comparison – is Microsoft admitting Kinect is a two player device only?
It is also slightly skewed in Microsoft’s favour. The Wii Balance Board is by no means essential for the Wii motion experience – and we already know that the Move’s Navigation controller can be substituted for a DualShock 3. Add in the fact people might already own the PlayStation Eye and Kinect hasn’t quite got the competition licked.
Is Kinect’s pricing the worst thing ever? Probably not – but it’s not as rosy as Microsoft like to think.

So are we saying that Microsoft actually went to the time and effort to pull these charts together? If this isn’t fan-made, then it’s a little bit embarassing. Talking about the competition so heavily shows a real lack of confidence in your own product.

Does it need AA batteries like the controller ? I had a walkman back in 1986 that took AA batteries! It was ace!
4GB you say?!

4gb!! are they stupid? i installed demos half the size and games larger than 4gb

hmm if i want to get move it be more expensive than kinect according to mircosoft why that sounds like bullshit and mircosoft 1+1=2 okay?

I’m sorry but this is bullshit for way too many reasons. 1: You don’t need the Wii Balance Board 2: Why does the Wii only show one Remote and Nunchuk whereas the PS3 shows two Move controllers and two subcontrollers? 3:You don’t need the navigation controllers if you have a dualshock (which most people do) 4: The Xbox 360 full package is referring to the 4GB model I presume yet it’s nowhere near the same specs as the PS3 therefore not exactly like for like.
I know most of these points have already been made but I felt like letting off some steam.

I thought it sniffed a little of desperation that the zealots were so fixated on local multiplayer as an excuse for such an inflated price tag, but to see Microsoft actually resort to it is actually… well… kind of pathetic…

it seems mircrosoft are forgetting MAIN userbase i.e hardcore gamers looks like judging by the amout of shit their have been comming out with lately and unlike kinect there has been proof that moves works also it seems the move bundle is £80 – £100 cheaper
