The Official PlayStation Twitter account is the bearer of bad news this morning as it appears that ModNation Racers update 1.02 has had some undesirable effects on certain areas of the game. The Tweet read as follows;
“ModNation Racers: Update 1.02 introduced an issue that affects online XP Races & XP Series. We’re working on a solution to resolve the issue.”
We will keep an eye out and let you know when it’s safe to dip your toes back in the water.

I haven’t put this game in my ps3 since the first week. I was in the beta test and virtually nothing changed, but I’ve kept it in the hope that the patches will eventually fix things. Sounds like it wont and it’s time to get rid.

I played it loads the first couple of weeks after release and then stopped. Tried it again over the weekend and had a lot of fun though – even though I had to start form scratch with it due to my old PS3 dying and tkaing my saved games with it.
Loading times are much quicker – not fast still, but fast enough that if they hadn’t started so slow, people wouldn’t complain about them now. The casual difficulty is a nice addition too.
I’d definitely advise giving it another good go before getting rid.
