Ted Price of Insomniac took to the stage for one final announcement during the Sony press conference, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. This new Ratchet game features 4 player drop in drop out co-op and allows you to take control of Ratchet, Clank, Quark and Nefarious. Together you can combine attacks to make them more powerful, complete four player puzzles and throw each other around. The game is due for release in Fall 2011. (Trailer below)
The big question many were asking was where is Resistance 3? Ted Price started off by talking about 3 year development cycles for their games. Correct me if I’m wrong but it has been nearly 2 years since Resistance 2 and less than 12 months since the last Ratchet. Just as Ted Price was walking off stage he left with one parting gift, a Resistance 3 trailer and a 2011 release date. We’ll have that online as soon we can.

I hate how they seem to love R&C (which is crap imo) and promote it and everything, but with Resistance 3, the game that actually looks cool, they are like oh yeah, yeah we made this thing too and don’t care about it, but put up the R&C trailer straight away but aren’t bothered with R3’s trailer.
(insomniac games that is, not TSA)

Ratchet & Clank is the greatest platformer/shooter franchise in the industry that’s why they showed the A41 trailer instead of R3 which IMO needs to return to the roots of FOM

Argh, i got to the end of Resistance 2 and just never played it again for some odd reason.
That was probably about 12 months ago now.. Resistance 3 should give me the incentive to finally finish it.. lets hope

I think 4 player co-op could be quite a fun addition – hopefully it will include 4 player offline co-op like LBP. It could be the PS3’s answer to New Super Mario Bros. Lot’s of people always complain about the lack of co-op in R&C games so the requests have been answered…
As for R3 that series was the first thing I played on my PS3 so I will always have a place for the franchise even if R2 was a slight disappointment. I’m assuming the extra dev time will mean a very polished 3rd instalment. With all the great FPS games out towards the end of 2010/start of 2011 I’m glad it won’t be out until the back end of 2011 too…

I must be forgetting something here but didn’t Microsoft have some kind of patent on online multiplayer drop in drop out?
It MUST be something other than what this R&C game has but i’m sure i heard about it somewhere..

More R&C = AWESOME. Co-op = MORE AWESOME!!

I really hope the ratchet game isn’t cannon.

I like the ending of “A Crack In Time” and bringing back would just be super cheesy.

Hmm, could live without multiplayer in an R&C title, but it looks nice enough I guess. If not for the visual quality I’d have guessed that it was a downloadable title.
Resistance 3 I can take or leave for now. No hurry, so next Christmas is fine by me so long as they put the vehicle sequences back in for the third game.

Is this gonna be a download title? The graphics look sub-par compared to ACiT. They look a lot more cartoonish than before. I can see this series going into the gutter fairly fast if they keep changing the style of the game. I can see that it will become more of a kiddy game with the odd Adult joke here and there, rather than running around, blowing shit up, and making sexual innuendos at every turn. I love the good old days of gaming.

Between ACiT, Heroes on the Move and now this, Ratchet is really getting around.

Good. Ratchet needed a reboot it was getting veh stale.
