TheSixthAxis’ Content On Other Sites: Boooo!

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but recently we’ve been thinking sometimes it more resembles theft. Like in the case of a certain European website that has taken what looks like a copy of TSA and are passing it off as their own design, complete with most of our images, our stylesheets and – yes – our content, but all under a different name. They’ve even overwritten our watermarks!

Recently this was confined to a foreign language ‘version’ of the site in question but over the last couple of days they’ve opened up their ‘English language’ site too. So, we had to step in and clear something up because it’s likely that at some point down the road you’ll come across it: TheSixthAxis does not license out its design, styling and content, to anyone. If you see something that looks like TSA but isn’t, walk away.

We value our writers and community more than most, it seems, so it’s a real shame when this sort of thing happens. We’ve tried to stay friendly and professional on the matter but sadly that doesn’t seem to work – if anyone has any experience in this field and is happy to do a bit of pro bono legal work we’d love to hear from you. We have approached the site in question many times and despite initially admitting the source of their design as TSA (and linking to us with credit) they have stopped responding and removed the credit links so we are currently in the process of gathering the appropriate information to take legal action. Again, apologies for interrupting your daily TSA feed but we just had to get this out there.

Both of these images are of the site in question. No, your eyes do not deceive you, the copy really is that similar to our design. They even update their design as we change ours. We’re not unreasonable, we love what we do and we like to see other sites spring up and keep the scene fresh. If anyone wants help from TSA with design questions or content then we’ll always try to help out when we can (as we have with various sites). We don’t wish any harm on the site responsible for this, we just want the matter cleared up with minimal fuss. Peace.

  1. Who the feck do they think they are? I don’t like them. But, as TSA is the best, no wonder they copied it :P

  2. Terrible – surely they can’t be allowed to continue with this?

    • thats what i was thinking…unless its a wordpress template. but even so, the stories should at least be different!?!?

  3. TSA is bookmarked for me :D

I often “steal” your fabulous articles for posting on my clan forums; but i always put it in a quote box and provide a link back to the page

    • copying & crediting is of course 100% fine

  4. whats the website? I would like to visit the site to say hello. This is unbelievable, I reckon there must be some sort of law that stops people from imitating your own work that you created. Maybe check google for some info on it. I reckon this has happened alot before.

    • i’ve found the website, can I post the link in this comment?

  5. Wonder if they’ll rip this article?

  6. That’s poor.

  7. I hope they follow you on Twitter :D

  8. Makes me sick

  9. Can I stress that we don’t want anyone to overreact to this. We just want you all to be aware that just because it looks like TSA, it isn’t neccessarily the case.
We’re persuing legal avenues and hopefully it will all be resolved soon. In the meantime, just make sure your TSA is actually your TSA.

    • A long time ago when I was young and naive, I copied a whole design of a website when I was trying to learn the basics. This was ofcourse followed by an angry email and then quite quickly the site was closed. Not by me but the webspace provider. Cb, go direct to their space provider, recommending that the site be closed, suspended or completely changed or they will face legal action against the owners of the site and them, for allowing this to continue to happen despite appropriate attemps of communication. Just an idea ;-)

      • If its turkish then they dont give two hoots about copyrights.

  10. TSA is the one of the best gaming websites I check so that is pretty poor at hom similar both sites are…
