Valve’s newly announced DLC for Left 4 Dead is called The Sacrifice. It’s not sacrificing much though since it works with both Left 4 Dead 2 and the first games, essentially becoming the first DLC I can think of that isn’t for a single game but a series.
The Sacrifice will tell the story of the last piece of L4D2 DLC, The Passing, from the perspective of the four characters from the original L4D game. You will be able to see how they meet up with the second game’s characters and make a key decision at the end of the piece which accounts for the DLC’s title.
Along with the new DLC there will be a campaign from the first game, No Mercy, updated and made available for owners of Left 4 Dead 2 to play through. This mission was set inthe hospital and is one of the most loved from the original game.
Finally, rounding out our Left 4 Dead news, there will be a new digital comic beginning next month. The purpose of this digital comic is to get everyone up to speed on the events which take place during the campaign (so there will be spoilers).
The Sacrifice is set to be a free download for PC and Mac and paid DLC for the Xbox 360.

I might buy L4D2 on PC just so I can get the DLC for free and try it out (and for other mods!) – can’t be bothered dishing out Microsoft points for this.

i don’t have the games but making the characters meet up sounds like a really great way to further the story

Hmmm. can’t see it being that surprising a decision to make at the end… In fact, I think it sounds bleeding obvious, and that’s without having played the game…
The only interesting thing will then be if an L4D3 game takes the communities most favoured decision into the canon of the game’s plot.
Speaking of the DLC though, L4D still isn’t out on Mac. Wonder if they’re planning on syncing up the Mac’s releases to the DLC?

steam are slowly releasing a few titles each month or week, also have you played the games on mac? i read somewhere that apple are allowing steam more into the hardware with an update.

When will someone finally make a game where i can play a zombie? :-D
Gamoc
You play as specials in L4D versus.
Playing a normal zombie would be the dullest and most frustrating thing possible.
Danza Di Fuoco E Ghiaccio
Noo… depending if it was super~zombie thaj would be fun

How would that be fun, it’d be slow and boring and best. Zombies generally walk like they’re stuck in treacle, sounds like it’d make a horrendous game to me!
Porcupine_I
yeah! but that’s the challenge for the developers :-D

Stubbs The Zombie (old Xbox & PC) was a game were you got to play the zombie and create your own zombie horde through your brain munching antics :D good fun, fairly amusing, with fairly decent co-op and a great soundtrack. Look it up :)

“essentially becoming the first DLC I can think of that isn’t for a single game but a series.”
Rock Band’s DLC is compatable with RB1, 2, and is supposed to work with 3 too, but in all fairness that’s outside of the norm for DLC as they’re songs rather than a full add-on, so even though I guess I’m pointing out another game has done it, I still agree that I can’t think of another game that has had DLC in the form of story based game altering content that works with previous entries in the series.

Awesome, want to know what happened to Bill
MrTwP

MrTwP

MrTwP
