Another reveal during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference earlier this morning was the next project from the Demon’s Souls team at From Software: the working-titled Project Dark.
Pitched as a sort of spiritual sequel to Demon’s Souls, a short teaser trailer was shown at the conference, showing “demons and darkness” according to Kotaku. So if you’re a fan of their previous work, you’ll be right at home.
Namco Bandai will be on publishing duty, and whilst the game appears to be exclusive to PS3 in Japan, it’ll be coming to the 360 as well in the West. No date was given for the game’s release.

Are you going to duff them up if not?

So if this is as spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, and Demon’s Souls was a spiritual successor to King’s Field. Does that mean that Project Dark is a grandspiritual successor to King’s Field? I hope they have properly tested the consequences of concatenating spiritual succession and nothing wrong happens to the space-time continuum…

PS3 exclusive in Japan only…do 360’s sell that bad over there, publishing a games for them is a waste of time?!?!

Pretty much. FF13 was PS3 exclusive and even titles like Bayonetta sold loads more on PS3.

Hope this really is a sequel to Demon’s Souls. They’d be fools not to capitalise on how well that did for them.

I don’t like the phrase ‘spiritual successor’. Heavy Rain was the spiritual successor of Fahrenheit (Project Indigo for you US guys) and yes it was a great game with similar gameplay but I really would have liked a continuation of the story in F/ PI.
