Forza Signs Top Gear

The Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection is due to arrive in stores at the end of October. It will feature the game, all previously released add-ons and a special code to download “Stig’s Garage Car Pack”. This new content is the first indication of a deal that Forza Motorsport and Top Gear have penned which will bring content from the worldwide hit television show to future releases in the Forza Motorsport franchise.

In addition to the Stig car pack, there will be an Xbox Live Theme and  ninety minutes of “specially edited” Top Gear TV content (we assume that means jokes about truckers and hookers will be omitted…) on Xbox Live when the Ultimate Collection is released.

Stig’s Garage, in case you’re curious, contains:

  • The Koenigsegg CCX
  • Lexus LFA
  • Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG

Time to get Forza back in the 360 then…

  1. Does it have the Top Gear test track? I think not, but if only!

    • GT5 got there first.

      • Yeah, still better off on GT but the BBC has done well to sell this twice!

  2. So basically Gran Turismo has a deal with Top Gear, Forza has a deal with Top Gear and Top Gear is getting it’s own game as well in future? The BBC knows how to license

    • All that’s left is for GRID 2 to have Top Gear as well!

    • ” The BBC knows how to license”

Never underestimate the power of BBC Worldwide when it comes to striking a deal :-D

    • Top Gear’s being a bit of a slut really..

      • They’re also knocking up a Top Gear show for the US and have one showing in Germany already.

Can’t be a bad brand for the beeb.

Hard to believe how stifled it was about 15 years ago when Quentin Wilson and Tiff Needell presented it.

      • aus has a top gear too

    • and burnout

  3. or play GT5 top gear test track

  4. The Top Gear track is but a decibel of GT5’s thunder… try as they like nothing will compare :D

  5. Also known as the ‘me too’ DLC

  6. Bit to close to Gran Tursimo 5 isn’t it?

  7. I wonder what else Microsoft will do in attempt to devalue GT5 and foil the launch. Announcing new Forza Kinect features a few days before launch possibly.

    • I would have thought that would probably help GT5

Kinect and Forza aren’t too things many will want to see in the same sentence

    • Shockingly for a racing game, the Kinect Forza game they’ve showed off does not allow you to accelerate.(issues with reading the foot position i believe) Mind you, neither does kinect joyride.

      • So you just sit on the start line, dry steering back and forth?

But seriously, this is exactly the kind of game in which I was concerned Kinect and Move might result. I don’t want watered down versions of games I enjoy with a pad! I want clever, original ideas that utilise the technology. Move has done well so far but I’m not confident in Kinect

      • TS is spot on. I recall mentioning this a few times in comment sections previously. The game does all the accelerating and braking for you. Was very strange to read about (and watch).

I suppose it might be alright for the likes of Crazy Taxi but for a proper racing game? Bonkers!

  8. Nice try Microsoft, but I’ll stick with playing as Stig on the Top Gear test track when the car sim to end all car sims arrives on my console of choice in a little over a month!

On a serious note though, this is a blatant and synicial attempt to try and divert the gaze of car loving 360 owners away from the PS3 this coming November…

    • Yes of course it is, it’s good marketing. Sony should do it more really.

      • Happens all the time, it’s combative marketing.

      • I disagree, Microsoft do it a the time and it’s caled playing dirty. The moved Gears of Halo or whatever to fuck up Killzone 2, just happen sign up Top Gear just in time for GT5, wherever possible they try and spoil other companies big launches. I know the Xbox has lots of lovely games but I coudnt bring myself to give money to such an ungentlemanly company. Sony and Nintendo may take the piss now and then but they would never delibertly fuck up someone elses product launch. It’s just not cricket!

      • It’s probably a cultural thing though – loud stetson wearing yanks shooting guns into the air and yelling ‘yeehaw’ versus quiet sugegasa wearing japs with long thin moustaches politely bowing to each other as they exit a room backwards….

Sorry for the blatant cultural stereotyping, but you’ve got to admit it is somewhat reflected in console companies…

      • But remember Tuffclub it was only ‘Halo Wars’ against Killzone and that game was well and utter shite

      • So Tuffcub, you’d rather they did nothing and watch a competitor gain a tactical advantage which could lead to a market share increase of a few percentage points?
How would that go down in the ‘city’ where you work?

      • Ther’s a difference between launching a similar product -for example all the smiar 3D TVs that came out – and actually spoiling a competitors ad campaign. Halo Wars awas always going to sell no mater when but they moved it deliberatly to clash with Killzone – and no that doesnt happen in the city or anywhere else. Movie companies regularly move release dates so they do not clash, Eastenders is not on the same time as Corrie, companies realise that if the schedule similar yet competetitive products apart then it’s a win for both companies. MS does not play by this rule and have consistantly spoiled Sony events.

    • It’s what MS do. They see what others are doing and copy – or buying the tech and claiming it as their own. There’s little they offer that they actually developed themselves. Most of their products are based on other people’s work. They’re leeches.

      • Second Life?

      • Yeah but they just copied that off first life.

  9. So GT5P had Top Gear on GTTV, and GT5 has the Top Gear test track (and the Stig!)… so Forza just had to jump on the band wagon? And by band wagon, I mean releasing three cars and loosely associating them with the Stig.

What a co-incidence they chose the SLS, cover art car from GT5, as one of the three. *rolls eyes dramatically at Turn 10*

“Time to get Forza back in the 360 then…”

Errr… no. Not with F1 2010 in my PS3 and GT5 around the corner!!! In fact, every time I see my XBox wheel I cringe and go and hug my G27 for comfort. You had your chance Forza 3, now go and euthanise with dignity.

    • Classic, made me laugh. F1 2010 is getting plenty of love from me too, even though i have the cheap wireless wheel…

      • F1 2010 will definitely keep me all tied up till Bonfire Night.

    • Yes, yes and yes! Almost everyone else here has the exact same thoughts as me. There butt hurt coz Top Gear is/will be in Gran Turismo and they’re so arrogant and childish that they just HAD to do it too!

  10. On the episode where we get to see The Stig’s vacation home – a racetrack in Spain (if I remember right) he had an old small black formulaish racecar. I think that was said to be his favourite….
