Katamari Creator Starts New Company

This is perfect. The day the TSA spellchecker goes tits up and we get news that ‘Katamari’ creator Keita Takahashi has started a company called … *checking for typos*…*checking again*… *third time just to make sure I haven’t typed the name of ladies rude bits*… called Uvula.

Takahashi has set up the new company with his wife and will be focusing on creating music as well as games. For the more curious amongst you, the.. *checks for typos*….Uvula… is part of your mouth

The uvula (pronounced /ˈjuːvjələ/) is the conic projection from the posterior edge of the middle of the soft palate, composed of connective tissue containing a number of racemose glands, and some muscular fibers (musculus uvulae).[1] – Wikipedia.

The first post on the new site for his company is of course a little weird. Takashi seems think he will be able to post updates from beyond the grave,

This is Keita Takahashi.
I became a freelancer in October. I look forward in working with my composer wife and fun friends around the world in the future to keep on creating things which are fun and hopefully useful for some in the future. You will see my status (Whether I’m alive or not) if you look at this page. Thank you.

  1. Well that has to be the best Status update ever, says so much yet so little.

  2. Uvula, now that’s an interesting choice of name.
I’m sure this company will give birth to some equally interesting games..

  3. Uvula? Almost as funny as Flange!

  4. Blackliner for herokiller? would be interesting to see what it is (I still have to get Katamari Forever….)

  5. Yes! I love this guy!

  6. Dare I say I’m not even sure what Katamari is, the whole franchise appears to have passed me by completely. A quick Google search hasn’t exactly enlightened me either.

    • Let me enlight you: It’s a game where you roll a sticky ball and catch objects with it. You must grab as many objects in a limited time
and the ball gets bigger as you catch more objects, alowing you to catch bigger objects (First you can only colect small objects, like stamps, then you can catch bigger objects, like buildings or continents). And you do this while listening to a bloody annoying song: “NaaaaaNaaaaaaan Naanaanaanaanaanana Naaa naa Katamari Damacy!!NaaaaaNaaaaaaan Naanaanaanaanaanana Naaa naa…”

  7. Great news! I really like this guy and will keep on eye on what he creates.
