THQ Unveils New DLC Initiative

In what seems like a bid to persuade people to not to trade in, THQ has announced a new DLC initiative for WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011, which launches later this month.

Buyers will be offered the chance to buy a ‘Fan Axxess’ pass for 800 MS points on Xbox LIVE or £6.29 on the PSN.  Once bought this pass allows you to download any future DLC for the game at no additional cost.

The DLC will include a number of playable characters, alternate ring gear, new arenas, character customisation tools, instant access to all unlockable content, and an in-game badge to recognise the videogame’s biggest supporters.

Danny Bilson – THQ’s boss of core games – had the following to say;

“The Fan Axxess program for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 offers consumers a very attractive value proposition to significantly enhance the virtual WWE experience.

We have some of the most passionate fans in the industry, and we are pleased to offer them an opportunity to access premium gameplay content, customization features and recognition for their loyalty for one price point.”

For those of you picking up the game don’t forget that only purchasers of new copies will be able to access the online modes for free.  Used game buyers will need to pay an additional fee of 800 MS points or £6.29.

  1. I wonder how they’ll support the game then? I can see this getting upto three/fours add-ons but hell that’s not enough I hate anything to do with wwe hope its a good game next much preferaly Saints Row 3.

Ihe only reason for trade-ins is the fact that the game would be either fately shit or dull or that its been done with.

  2. This is a bad game for them to stop pre owned buyers from playing online. The online mode on SvR 2010 was awful, so I have no real intensive to buy new!

  3. I’ll be buying this. Being able to play as The Nexus is far too tempting.

  4. This could end up being a bit of a con if the devs then decide to move on to a new project and stop supporting it with new DLC.

  5. i know what would be easier instead of all this bollocks we keep getting from publishers…make a decent game that people don’t want to trade in!!! I took down some old crap games the weekend and the shelfs are packed with games that are no good! I have all 4 MGS’s, uncharted, GOWs etc as they are so good i don’t want them out of my cabinet, problem solved!

Instead of making countless FIFA’s, Maddens, WWE’s just release dlc patches and update the rosters. Only bring a new one out every 2/3 seasons when the game is massively different from the last! People wont trade them in as they know no new version is coming out. problem soved

    • This game is massively different to the last though. Huge changes have been made.

      • by huge you mean one new feature that sounds a bit like features they’ve had before and a roster update?

in that case, yeah, bloody enormous.

        either way, not interested.

      • Erm, no. And no need for the sarcasm. New Universe mode and new physics system. Plus improvements to the Hell in a Cell match and create mode, roster update and a new match creator mode.
Pretty big update if you ask me.

  6. fuxx you thq.

mind you, i don’t know why i’m bothered, i haven’t played one of their wwe games that i could stand in years.

it’ll be a shame missing out on the online play for saints row 3 though, but there’s no way i’ll be buying new if they have this online pass style crap.

  7. WHAT A FUCKING CON oops did i just shout it out loud. Bad company, very bad company no. this is an example of how to piss off your customers.

  8. guess they are counting on their customer base not knowing what ‘buying a pig in a poke’ means.

  9. im a huge, sorry i mean HUGE WWE fan and so i dont care if the games or addons are garbage. il buy it whatever. sorry buts thats just me. i can understand why some people might think its a bad idea or a con but for people like me, its great.
