GT5 Delayed

News just in: Gran Turismo 5’s release date been pushed back to the “Holiday Season” – or Christmas Time to you and me, according to the US PlayStation Blog.

Now it’s not been said whether this applies to all regions, but from the quote below it seems more than likely.

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.

We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

We’ll have more information for you in the near future

Update: the Japanese version is delayed too.  We’re expecting news of a corresponding EU delay shortly.

Update 2: SCEE has confirmed that the European date is delayed too, with no new date yet for our local version.  Expect a press release soon.

Update 3: SCEE’s told TheSixthAxis that the game will still be released “before Christmas” and apologise for the delay, echoing the US statement.

We are sorry to say that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available on the previously announced release date of November 3rd, but the game will be released before Christmas.

We sincerely apologise to GT fans for the delay, however creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating a racing experience of the highest quality. We are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches later this year.

  1. Hopefully it doesn’t crowd Need For Speed’s time in the spotlight as the multiplayer concept of that deserves to have as many people playing it as possible.

    Obviously they’re different games with different audiences but there will be some overlap.

    And Criterion rock!

    • Just “Holiday Season”, so Between mid December and early Jan, I’m calling Jan 7th

    • He mentioned the holiday season in the US. Basically Christmas is my bet.

  8. Unbelievable, if this game is the complete nuts with no bugs what so ever, then the fans will be rioting outside their office.

  10. Epic fail. I wont be expecting many bugs or patches once this has been released then!
