News just in: Gran Turismo 5’s release date been pushed back to the “Holiday Season” – or Christmas Time to you and me, according to the US PlayStation Blog.
Now it’s not been said whether this applies to all regions, but from the quote below it seems more than likely.
We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.
We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

Update: the Japanese version is delayed too. We’re expecting news of a corresponding EU delay shortly.
Update 2: SCEE has confirmed that the European date is delayed too, with no new date yet for our local version. Expect a press release soon.
Update 3: SCEE’s told TheSixthAxis that the game will still be released “before Christmas” and apologise for the delay, echoing the US statement.

if it slips to 2011 i might just not bother with it….every release date slip just makes me bother about the game less and less. just release the game already…..it’s probably going to eat away at about 12gig of my hdd as it is….the way they are going, it could be that a weekly patch for gt5 becomes the norm.

Just because they weren’t silly enough to announce a date it doesn’t mean it was expected internally and externally to be released a year or so after Prologue
And regardless of that it was definitely expected out last golden quarter and although never announced it was pushed back to some point this year, then late this year and now before Christmas (although we’re not sure which one)
People were wise the other day when they said they’d believe it when its in their hands and actually installing

Well I know we got a time-frame of spring, but it was just a rough guess, so could that be taken as a delay, I suppose so, but still wasn’t a concrete date anyway.

As pissed off as I am about this, I’m laughing hysterically inside at all the people that have booked time off work for this.
As an aside, I will no longer be stopping myself from buying other titles out around now, knowing that I’ll be able to enjoy them properly, and not have GT5 come along and then suddenly I don’t play anything else for several months.

No, but I still find it funny. It’d be even better if their boss knew about the delay etc and the employee was found out. Not that it’s anything worth being found out about, I don’t know. All I do know, it it made me laugh on the inside… (please, I’m just trying to look at things brightly, rather than raging my ass off, which I could easily do.)

I don’t get what you mean. Why would your boss care if you booked the day off to play a game. He’s not ‘finding you out’! If it’s booked then it must be holiday, not a sicky, so it’s legitimate to use it for whatever the hell you like

Yeah, I understand that. It just amuses me. And I did state that there is nothing to be “found out” just something a boss somewhere will know about their employee. I don’t know, it’s just amusing to me. I guess I just find this funny and you obviously don’t.

My current boss knows I’m a massive gamer and I told him that’s why I was booking Nov 5th. My last boss is still on my PSN friends list!

If this game has to have even one patch then i’m going to hunt down Kazunori Yamauchi demand £200 off him for the amount i paid and how long it’s been in develpoment and then shoot him.

Getting so close to release I genuinely thought this ws gonna land on time. I have time booked off work and was really excited, like a kid again. This is like a kick in the nuts.
I think the main reason I am so angry is becasue I can’t really do anything about it. Sure I could boycott the game but I really want it and no-one but me would actually care anyway

I’ve always been a defendant of GT5 and have always been on the “it’s ready when it’s ready” side of the fence, but this latest is an absolutely massive kick in the knackers.
So close to release and now potentially so far. A month before it’s supposed to be out and once again we’ve gone from a secure, nailed on date to another vague “Holiday Season”.
I just wonder what the delay is for. The amount of time it’s taking to get this out of the door is starting to push the boundaries a little even by the most mild mannered, patient book. If this is something that can only take a couple of weeks to fix then why not patch it later, assuming it’s not totally game breaking? If it was totally game breaking, then why lie and say it’ll be coming “Holiday Season” when something that bad would take longer to fix?
