Visceral’s Nick Earl has announced to Gamasutra that they are working on a new Command & Conquer. Although the game is yet to be “formally announced” Earl described it as “pretty far out.” He also added that “the effort and energy at the moment is around building EA share in the action category… to achieve our mission of becoming number one inside of the action space.”
Visceral have made a name for themselves in recent years with the releases of Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno. Earl’s comments may suggest that their Command & Conquer may not fit the mould of previous games in the series with the studios focus very much on the action genre.
“Think about the DICE brand as becoming a strong FPS brand with games like Battlefield, Bad Company 2, and with BioWare being a strong brand for RPGs — we’re trying to do that inside the action space, where EA has not had a strong position for some time.”

UPDATE: EA has clarified that a new C & C game is indeed in development, but by an LA based team rather than Visceral.

Hmm, intriguing. It certainly would be interesting to see a different take on Command & Conquer, though I’m not sure how die hard fans are going to react to this. I for one would like to know more.

I’m a die hard fan, extremely interested, I really want to know more!
Visceral have proved themselves to me with dantes inferno, but especially dead space, so this is great to hear.

According to them, in case the link doesn’t work, Game informer reported that Visceral were NOT developing it and EALA were still on it

So they ruined the Command & Conquer franchise with 4 and now they’ve decided it wasn’t enough.
Poor C&C. It deserves better.

After playing c and c renegade, I’m hopeful.

its possible that they are resurecting the cnc fps that was in development but i wouldn’t mind seeing a true ending to the tiberium saga myself rather than what they tried to deliver in cnc 4
