GT5 Retail Disks Are Out There?

We’re still waiting on our copy, but rumours are flying around this evening that someone, somewhere, has a copy of Gran Turismo 5.  Proof?  The picture below, apparently of the game’s disk, and yes – that’s a retail version, if indeed it’s not some fancy Photoshop hoax.

I don’t know where the image originates from, whether it’s real or just a printed fake stuck onto another Blu-ray (and I can’t even confirm the product serial number) but if you fancy trying to figure it out for yourself, this thread’s probably a good place to start.

Have fun.

  1. It looks fake to me for this reason: GT5 is polished to perfection, everything has been shinyfied. The graphic design on the disc is terrible, there’s a lot of white, the offset wheel just looks odd and that big grey curve section at the bottom seems to serve no purpose. Having the blu ray logo unde rthe dolby logo rather than to the side so it mirrors the other log arrangement is also odd. It could be real, but if so it’s not pretty.

    • I agree, it does look like a comparatively shoddy job when you think about Kaz’s ideals.

    • Curve section is a feature of more recent PS3 discs from other regions (don’t know which ones exactly). Putting the wheel central so the hole aligns with the disc’s hole is the obvious thing to do but I prefer the slight offset.

    • Tuffcub, I said very similar things about the new PS3 logo and box when that was leaked and it turned out to be real too…

  2. Does any1 know why the pic has dissapeared off GTplanet? They have stopped the comments also

  3. I’m with Tuffcub on this, the disk just doesn’t look right. Kaz wouldn’t have approved this. It looks wrong and doesn’t have anything going for it. The disk looks disproportionate, The GT5 logo doesn’t look to be centred, the bottom of the disk looks bigger than the top, but that could be the angle of the shot. Plus if he’s got a copy, what about the case?

  4. Guys… I haven’t read all the comments so I’m sorry if I’m saying the same thing other person as alreaddy said but…

Has nowone repaired the fail in the image? If not, see: http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/7459/gt5retaildiskphoto.jpg

    So… It’s fake.

    • Really? Becuase if that’s true, how come my copy of red dead redemption has that ‘Fail’ on it? And Assassin’s creed II. And Borderlands.

      • …..and the fight, sports champions, heavy Rain, GOW III. apart from them, I think you could be onto something……
        ;-)

  5. All new game discs have that logo printed on them, I checked a few of mine and all of the more recent titles do indeed sport that icon/logo. The older game discs that I have use the old multicoloured playstation logo that is found on the disc insertion cover of a PS1 or the little logo on the DVD game insertion draw of a PS2 that you could turn 90 degrees.

  6. I’m about 99% sure this is a total fake.

The hole in the centre looks a little odd, dunno if it’s the angle.
Usually the discs of most games have the same picture that appears on the cover.
And finally, why hasn’t this person chosen to take the picture of the disc whilst it’s inside the game box? Hmm… I think someones faked an image onto a real disc.

Why hasn’t this person sent out a trophy list, a game manual, or a game box?

  7. Picture is removed!! Booo!!

  8. Why are the pictures removed from everywhere??????

  9. Just clicked on the link and on the forum, there is now a pic of it with box and manual. Either this is real or a very elaborate fake

    • still strange that the disk looks kinda sloppy when everything about this game is so polished

      • just noticed on the biiger picture that the right side of the disk look like the printed it of center, may explain the wheel thing

  10. Not sure how accurate this analysis tool is, but it looks like some work has been done around the red and blue blocks above Gran Turismo text, and the green and orange logos on the right:
