GT5 Retail Disks Are Out There?

We’re still waiting on our copy, but rumours are flying around this evening that someone, somewhere, has a copy of Gran Turismo 5.  Proof?  The picture below, apparently of the game’s disk, and yes – that’s a retail version, if indeed it’s not some fancy Photoshop hoax.

I don’t know where the image originates from, whether it’s real or just a printed fake stuck onto another Blu-ray (and I can’t even confirm the product serial number) but if you fancy trying to figure it out for yourself, this thread’s probably a good place to start.

Have fun.

  1. Maybe I am a bit OCD or something but shouldn’t the hole line up with the centre hub?

    • haha i just mentiaoned that. work got in the way for posting it before you

  2. the only think im thinking, wouldnt they have placed the middle of the alloy over the centre hole of the disk? isnt kaz that anal??

    • It did come across as a bit strange to me too, not sure I like it really. Who am I to complain though, it’s what’s on the disk that counts… er wait… that’s exactly what it is. You know what I mean!

    • That’d actually look kinda cheesy if you ask me. Looks nicer slightly offset.

    • Don’t tell kaz about that or it will be delayed.

  3. I’ll take 11 :)

    • I only want one.

      • I only want 10, you can have the one :D

    • I’ll take 9000!, oh s**t they’re after me

      • I take *does dr evil impression* 1 million copies

  4. Cool. It’s a bit weird we don’t even have a release date yet, and some guy is supposedly already playing on it. Perhaps he’s nabbed a copy from the warehouse where they’re being stocked, and then distributed from.

  5. Is there a session of Photoshop tennis going on at the moment?

  6. gamejournos has picked up on this…..

    • how cute.

      • i couldnt make out what he was slagging off regarding the article as i was looking via twitter. Is that him smashing his head against a brick wall? the guy does my head in sometimes, he obviously thinks he can do better, but doesnt.

      • I’msorry, but who’s gamejournos?

      • A guy that doesn’t like this post.

      • Yeah, read his post. Doesn’t seem too happy. Also seems to have an abundance of being something called “Smartarse”.

      • That’s kinda his ‘thing’. Take him or leave him.

      • elitist?

      • I love the way he criticises us but has comments turned off on his own blog. Just read all the stuff tagged with Tuffcub – He seems to have missed the point every single time. Twat :)

      • The idea of his blog was originally pretty sound, but when he’s resorting to posting animated GIFs it’s hard to take him seriously.

Quite what’s wrong with what could potentially (and the post is clearly written as such) be confirmation that GT5 isn’t far away I’ve no idea.

As I said, each to their own. The news is certainly important enough for the world’s biggest GT site to cover…

      • Doesnt know what he’s on about either – a post about the next COD being a FPS gets a very sarcastic “Oh really?!” which just makes him look silly as up to that point the next COD was Sledgehammers third person shooter, not a First person – hence it was news. Ah well.

He hasnt complained once about Smut Watch though, im dissapointed :)

      • I see he’s managed to spin his disapproval over two blog posts now. Ironic, seeing as that’s what he moans at Made2Game for doing.

      • “It does seem a little desperate-slash-whiny, doesn’t it?” If he can’t see the irony in that…

      • He also seemed to miss the fact that we always bold the first few words. My opening was also a matter of fact: we ARE still waiting for our copy.

Desperate to play it? Yes. Whiny? No.

  7. If this is fake; Somebody seriously needs to get a life.

  8. cool beans good news!

  9. I don’t know if Andy (torr) is around tonight but that looks genuine. Creating that would take considerable effort and the original image would be quite a bit bigger if you wanted to create something in Photoshop. Then there’s the print texture that looks legit, coupled with all the supporting logos, terms, conditions, copyright notice, etc.

For my money, that’s a truly great fake or it’s genuine. I’m going with the latter.

    • The reason I mention Andy is that he’s a graphic designer too and you get to learn the tricks of the trade quite quickly (when faking graphics and manipulating pixels).

  10. *fingers crossed*
