For a while we have known roughly what to expect to be included in the PS3 version of BioWare’s sci-fi RPG. Now following a minor Internet fire storm over what were apparently some poorly translated interview comments from BioWare’s Casey Hudson that appeared in German magazine Play3 more details have been published.
In a post on the BioWare forums, Jesse Houston, Producer for Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, has revealed which pieces of DLC will be on the Blu-ray and the first information about the promised “nice introduction experience”.
The DLC missions included with the game will be Lair of the Shadow Broker, Project Overlord and Kasumi: Stolen Memory. In addition the Blood Dragon Armour that PC and 360 players could gain access to via a cross-game promotion with Dragon Age: Origins will be ready to wear.
The introduction experience will take the form of an interactive comic that is being produced in a collaboration with Dark Horse Comics. It will be
…a stunning visual experience that not only tells the core story elements of Mass Effect 1, but also is fully interactive allowing you to be faced with some of the major choices which will have consequences [for] your Mass Effect universe.
The wording of the forum post suggests that this comic will be available from the Cerberus Network, a code for which will be included with the game. All the DLC on the Cerberus Network will be available to PS3 players. Access to the Network is BioWare’s enticement to get you to buy a new, rather than secondhand, copy of the game.

Seriously looking forward to this, I am getting rid of my 360 this week so having this stunning game on PS3 will be awesome.

There’s no way you can buy Mass Effect 2 with a pre-owned sticker copy on release and hopefully after so what’s the point of entering a freakin code?
(consider me old-fashioned and lazy)

I’ve read this comment three times and it still doesn’t make any sense. The code is single use, and comes in the new box. Time/date has nothing do do with it, as a preowned game could be bought two days after launch, and a new game could be bought 6 months later.
Watchful
What? You can buy the 360 version for £10 secondhand. I should also add that you can buy a code for the Cerberus Network separately. Currently one will set you back 1200 Points on XBLA.
Sympozium
Wait? that isn’t right
Okay I have made flaws… in complaining about the era of entering a code for a new game’s feature.

Really looking forward to this, I was wondering how whey’d replicate the choices 360 owners were faced with in the 1st game. An interactive comic sounds like a good compromise. It’s the one game that made me consider buying a 360, so whilst this is still more xpensive than the current retail price of the 360 version, it’s still far cheaper than buying a 360 for it!
Charmed_Fanatic
yeah the comic is a really good idea!

I had this on PC, not sure whether to purchase on PS3 and get 3 on PS3 or just 3 on PC.

It will be interesting to see how well they have managed to tweak this to run on the PS3.
It’s quite graphics card heavy on the PC…
Watchful
It will hopefully be at least as good as it is on the 360 with the extra time they’ve had to tweak Unreal Engine to run better on the PS3.

Pre-ordered this with The Hut. Really looking forward to it.

So, to get the DLC, access to the PS Store will be needed?
Watchful
To get the Cerberus Network content, including the interactive comic, the implication is that you will at least have to have your PS3 online. Shadow Broker, Overlord and Kasumi should be on the disk.

Sweet, I thought it was the same situation like with Uplay, where you have to have access to the store in order to download the themes. Thanks for the info :D
