Devil-headed men and moonwalking dogs may have been annoying bugs in Fallout: New Vegas but they did not alter your game-play experience. Mere hours after its launch, the first bug for Black Ops has the potential of being very, very annoying.
Check the video below and watch as the player glitches the game to get infinite care packages. Happily Activision have called for all you lucky, lucky people who bought game to report bugs on the Call Of Duty forums and pay for the privilege of working in the Activision QA team help improve the title.

Like any game doesn’t need patching…
In Treyarch favour, at least they’ve been upfront about getting the bugs/glitches reported so they can patch it sooner rather than later
Tuffcub
And when did it become standard to released bugged games? It never happened on PS1 or PS2.
cc_star
I don’t know, ask Bethesda
Kovacs
o_O Both the PS1 and the PS2 had CRAP LOAD of buggy games. They just couldn’t fix them post-launch so their bugs became “charming features.”
:)
jacklum
Sure it did. On the PS2 – the GTAs, Prince of Persia games and Soul Calibur III spring to mind. Going waaaay back, Jet Set Willy had the Attic glitch which made the game impossible to finish. It does seem like it’s becoming more common though.

The difference was that with the PS1 and PS2 you were very rarely playing online, so you were just cheating yourself with this kind of exploit.
In addition to that, it was much rarer for these day one exploits to become known the world over within a few hours of the game’s release simply because Youtube didn’t exist till 2005 and the internet was nowhere near as developed. With the PS1 you’d basically only find out about these cheats from magazines, word of mouth, or through the use of a cheat cartridge/disc.
So there were still bugs, just they couldn’t patch them. On the other hand, there probably weren’t as many bugs, since there were far fewer lines of code written by fewer monkeys trying to write Shakespeare, etc. etc.
Also, Activision are evil and just want you to suffer.
kivi95
haha funny are you serious??Ps1 or Ps2 no bugs??
Tuffcub
Alright they had a couple – but it seems these days every title has some pretty huge problems.

I’m not defending COD (I’m a Killzone man), but there is a lot more to these modern games than their last gen equivalents.
If you think of all the multiplayer modes, the lighting, physics drived elements, ragdolling.
Last gen all you had to worry about was collision detection. There was no physics to worry about.
Add to that all the online modes, weapons, options.
Name a last gen game where you had as many weapons, game types, maps, zombie modes, co-op, online and off, online on the same machine.
Kojima said that this gen he needed 4 times the staff to build a game this gen compared to last.
I’m a Software Test Consultant by trade, and although I don’t work in gaming, I know that when you increase scope and complexity you increase the chances that bugs are going to slip through the net.

There’ll be blood in the broadband tonight with all those care packages flying around.
(Unrelated question: did by-lines just come back or did I miss an announcement about them?)
Kovacs
And when you say by-lines, what exactly are you referring to?
eirekun
Oh, the ‘by Tuffcub’ etc at the top of the articles – haven’t they been gone the last few days?
Kovacs
Not that I’m aware of.
eirekun
Hmmm, must be my pc so – odd. Anyway, glad to see them again.
Though it was also good trying to work out who wrote what :-)
This article would’ve been fairly easy to guess though.

Imagine just getting your hands on this game and your first thought is something like ‘I wonder if there’s any glitches I can exploit to get on everyone else’s nerves…’.
Phil_E
This is what COD is all about, online glitches that will make it annoying for the other proper players.
Charmed_Fanatic
Its also glitched the game that both sides have 0 for awhile ;|

Every game has glitches. Yes, this probably should have been fixed in the beta stage, but it’s not that much of a big deal.

It’s the lockups rather than floating mobs that broke New Vegas on the ps3,playing the Pc version now id say it’s the (often hugely comical) main questline bugs that break it (300 mobs and items found to spawn outside geometry every 3 days by the Fook team so far).
New Vegas could’ve been amazing and thats my main issue with that release, another year of twats looking to get one over in Cod is zero surprise or concern to me tbh.Have we forgotten MW2s first 2 days of patches last year?,1st of which zapped any online play which id rate as possibly worse than this.
gaffers101
Not fussed about glitches, just wish I could get a decent connection to play a game through without it jumping all over the place.

Horrible lag all day on this.

BETA should of, would of, could of, but didn’t
