NFS: Hot Pursuit DLC Now Available

The first batch of DLC for NFS: Hot Pursuit is now available (in North America at least), but before you get too excited about new cars and modes I should tell you that it’s just an unlock key for those who want to have all the cars from the start.

Yes that’s right, you can purchase two ‘timesaver’ packs – one for the cops and one for the racers.  The prices come in at $3.99 on the PSN and 320 MS Points on LIVE.

  1. Can you use these cars in multiplayer? Cos I hate that

  2. I hate EA’s timesaver packs… I’m not against them overall, just being released so soon.

If they had a month delay then they’d be OK.

But probably to be expected from EA, the company which brought us the online pass

    • Same hear. I would rather play through the game and unlock the cars the proper way.
Maybe when you’ve played through and there are ‘unlocks’ that are too hard for you to attain then maybe I might be tempted.

      • Well you still can play the game the normal way, its just a option for those who maybe don’t have the time to level up.

      • And in launching it so soon potentially ruining multiplayer in the process.

      • That’s why I don’t think they should be released so soon, gives folks an unfair advantage online.

    • I agree, this is waay too early and will ruin the game experience for many while also not giving lazy people the kick up the backside they need to just try playing it themselves from the start with the first cars.

      • @ moshi why play the bleeding game if you don’t have the time to level up then?

      • Work and life get in the way of real dedication. I may play offline. I may buy it in a few weeks or a month or 2

    • I agree with that. They shouldn’t be released so soon after release.

  3. I hate DLC that ‘unlocks’ all the unlockables in the game in an instant. Defeats the damn purpose.

  4. No one is making you buy this DLC so stop complaining people.

    • I agree. And think of those people who are naff at games and will happily take some help by way of a small payment. I’m not one of these people you understand, but I do believe they exist… ;)

    • It ruins multiplayer. Stop appeasing the money-grabbers.

After a few weeks it wouldn’t a be a problem for people not interested in buying it, but launching it instantly affects the game, drastically.

      • Yeah, the complaints are because its ruining the multiplayer, not because they’re charging you for unlocking everything.

  5. I already unlocked all Cop cars and 2 racers are locked which will be unlocked soon after 10 races. It does have a huge impact on multiplayer but on friends is the best as you can host and still get exp and trophies we got some last night the meet went great.
I still hate this and the same goes for “The Fight” you can purchase boosters and use the cheat to win fights easily – that is not a challenge at all hell not even worth the 40quid when playing, like I always say – where’s the fun in that?

  6. I think the idea of timesavers is great. Especially if you don’t have time to sink huge amounts of time in a game. As long as the cars are not usable online against other players I think they’re fine.

    • Also, I guess it allows people who don’t buy the game on launch, to still compete at a decent level by allowing them to “perk-up” instantly and dive into a multiplayer game without feeling completely nobbled.

  7. Don’t waste your money guys, I unlocked every car in the game, cops and racers playing over a two/three day period….easily enough.

    • I agree with freezebug2 I started playing Saturday/Sunday played around 14hrs in total almost got all cars except 2 which I will get after 10 more races.

      • Same here I am reasonably close to unlocking all cars and I have only had it since Saturday

  8. It really isn’t hard, you unlock all the cars by level 13. I don’t have a problem with them doing this sort of DLC. As far as people saying that it’s bad for the multi player aspect, you need to realise that if you have unlocked the cars through playing the game, you’re going to be much better than someone who has spent an hour with the game and buys the DLC.

    • Yeah but that’s still over 10 hours of play. If you want to race with the fastest cars but don’t have that amount of time to invest in the first place then the timesaving dlc helps.

      • I argued both points but I sided with yours, why are you complaining!? :P

      • I wasn’t complaining, just adding to your argument :-)

    • But those who buy the DLC to get the better cars so quickly don’t know the track layout that well so end up lagging behind anyway from my experience.

  9. For some reason I really can’t make myself buy these unlock packs, even when I lost my completed save game for Burnout when my PS3 died. Also, surely the people who buy the packs at the start of the game won’t be skilled enough to play with them effectively in multiplayer anyway…

    • Same here, I played Burnout Paradise 3 times to completion from scratch due to YLOD’s and trophy introduction and the only DLC cars I bought were the Hot Rods, toy cars and the like. Never considered ever getting the time savers pack as that was an important part of the game to win and unlock them.

  10. This is typical of EA………giz your cash & f**k all the complainers. I know they’re not forcing people to buy but c’mon EA FFS…….get a grip :(
