Kinect Sales Pass 2.5 Million

Earlier in the month we brought you the news that Kinect sales had passed the one million mark. Microsoft’s Major Nelson has now confirmed that worldwide Kinect sales have passed 2.5 million units, taking 25 days to do so:

“We got some new numbers to share: With the help of Black Friday last week, Kinect has now sold over 2.5 Million units around the world.”

Impressive numbers, and with Christmas around the corner it’s looking positive for Microsoft’s projected target of five million Kinect units sold by the end of the year.

  1. So what happened to Kinnect being the biggest ‘console’ launch ever then? They seem to have quietly forgotton they were shouting on about that a few weeks ago.

  2. played it in the o2 store (of all places!) and it was just, meh.

their table tennis was incredibly poor compared to the move’s version

    • Kinect was up and running in my local tesco a couple of days ago complete with massive advertising and 2 dollybirds….i had to laugh though when they couldn’t get it working properly, it kept detecting the crowd, which didn’t stay around for long due to the fact that it wouldn’t work…pmaol!

  3. I haven’t seen any advertising for it per se, but there has been in store spots like other people have said. I’m in France and I’ve seen it in the local Carrefour (think Tesco) and in the FNAC (Think HMV) Both had pretty large crowds who seemed pretty unimpressed!
