GT5 To Get Web-Browser B-Spec Mode

Gran Turismo 5, it appears, isn’t finished. Technically, it probably never will be, with Polyphony promising to add features above and beyond what we’d normally expect of a game that’s been on the shelves for a couple of weeks.

In addition to the recent updates, including today’s online damage settings, it looks like the studio are planning some really killer features for the near future, including a web-browser based B-Spec mode that will allow you to monitor your AI drivers from the comfort of your laptop, if translations are correct.

Speaking on Twitter again, Kaz Yamauchi is answering public questions openly and candidly, as he has done in the past.

He’s also mentioned that racing your mates on your custom designed tracks might also be in the offering soon enough.

  1. Now a gt-b spec iPhone app would be cool! :)

    • That would be awesome. Working on GT5 while at work, would be great, but no doubt lose me my job too.

      Worth it, I say.

      • There’s a petition for that on the GTPlanet forums.

  2. Seem to remember them also mentioning a “Stunt” mode and Move support – wonder if those are still on the cards. But, yes B Spec mode that doesnt tie up the telly would be welcome.

    • i was sure i heard it has move support, was begining to think i dreamt that.

  3. Okey this is a racing game sooooo WHERE IS THE LEADERBOARD.

  4. Shame they are wasting their time of useless extras like this, rather than making it feel like a next-gen racer and one we didnt play over a decade a go… ;)

    • i think you are in the minority with this opinion…

      • The range of 8/10 reviews seem to agree with me ;)
Don’t get me wrong, I can see GT5 is a great game, but almost identical to GT3 which came out years and years ago.

      • The AI is fairly similar and the tuning options and a lot of the cars. But the physics have made it entirely different to play for me. It’s great!

      • I suppose it depends what you were looking for in GT5. For me I played it and thought ‘This took them 6 years to make?!’

      • now 8/10 is the new meh? wow, this changes fast…

      • The range of 9s and 10s disagree. As do the 8s :-p

      • Haha sorry, that did sound like I had a blinkered vision there. As much as I know 8/10 is a decent score, you have to admit, most people were expecting either perfect 10s or 9s given how much the game had been hyped etc.

  5. Does this mean I could do B-Spec races from the comfort of my desk in work?

    If so then :)

  6. wo, i was secretly wishing for a B-spec connectivity for the PSP, but putting it in a webbrowser would be even better :)

  7. What about bloody leaderboards??? Some one needs to give Kaz one big slap in the chops. Why the hell wasn’t this in the gane to begin with? Prologue had it!. This game needs a lot of work and PD should pull their fingers out their arses. Ps if anyone says I’m “a hater who has barely scratched the surface of the game yet” are just wrong, I’m level 32 completed all special events got the X1 the F1 car etc only a few races left to do in a spec. So please don’t put me in that category.

  8. Awesome, would help on those endurance races when I’m not at the PS3.

  9. This is a great idea but might lead to a few lost jobs!
I hope they keep the visuals down though so the site isn’t too heavy and we can play it on a smartphone while on the move. That would be epic.

  10. I wasn’t aware this was being planned, but i’ve got to say it sounds fantastic. The only other things i’d like to see added are a purpose for playing online i.e. Winning credits or xp, online leaderboards, and online race series. I used to love playing a series in modnation, would be great to see it introduced here.
