Mass Effect 3 Appears On EA Store

Earlier this evening, the official EA Store added a now-pulled preorder page for Mass Effect 3 – the yet-to-be-announced but heavily rumoured conclusion to the space-faring trilogy.

“Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race,” reads the description on the product page, as noted by Joystiq. “As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.”

A new BioWare title has been confirmed to appear at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards tomorrow night, and it’s certainly looking like that title will be Mass Effect 3. The preorder listing mentions PS3, 360 and PC, although there is no release window given. Expect the official reveal and first trailer tomorrow.

  1. Well it was bound to happen. I just hope they don’t ruin it with multiplayer. Not that I don’t think it would be good, it just can’t be the bog-standard stuff. Something innovative and fresh, like what Ubi did with AC: Brotherhood would be welcome, as long as it doesn’t detract from the story. ME2 was one of my favourite games of all time, and I can’t wait to play again on PS3. Although with EA’s comments about single-player only games being “finished” and them publishing Mass Effect, I think we shall see some multiplayer. Please Bioware, be innovative!

  2. The big question for me is if this will be releasing 2011 or 2012(early)?

  3. Why have Bioware moved from choosing the name of the character to a default one?.. Hawke, Shepard why!?

    • it’s much easier to have spoken conversations and cutscenes in the game, if they do not have to avoid saying the characters name. i think it’s hard enough to avoiding mentioning shepards gender.

      • Have to agree with you there, plus its a lot easy to create a detailed backstory and personality, something which is almost impossible when you let the player create the character. Having said all that, I could argue for both methods and I think they each have their own merits but at the same time with DAII and MEIII I’m quite looking forward to the fact that they’ve gone for something very story-driven and character focussed as I think they’ll do it incredibly well.

  4. The big question, is will it be on the PS3 also? ME is coming early next year, but I hope 3 follows closely.

    • It says so in the article so i’d assume so.

    • It would be a bit messed up if PS3 owners only got to play the middle of the trilogy, so I’m saying it will be out on PS3.

  5. Have never played ME before so don’t really know why im so looking forward to this.
