Mass Effect 3 Is Multi-Platform

EA exec, Patrick Buechner, today confirmed that BioWare’s upcoming sci-fi RPG will be available across all three major platforms via the following tweet:

Mass Effect 3 is coming to Xbox 360, PC and….. PS3!

This comes in response to waves of Mass Effect fans who were left scratching their heads after saturday night’s debut trailer. Though fantastic, there was no mention of which platforms Mass Effect 3 would be available for.

EA have also confirmed that all three versions of the game will launch simulatanesouly next Holiday season.

  1. I want to try the first two, well at least the first one before I play the third. Any news on a port yet?

    • As mentioned here (http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/12/04/tsa%E2%80%99s-top-100-of-2011-%E2%80%93-38-mass-effect-2/) and many times before, a port of the first Mass Effect to the PS3 is not going to happen. It was published by MGS and hence it’s staying exclusive on the 360. Since then EA acquired BioWare so Mass Effect 2 can come to the PS3. The PS3 version will have an interactive comic that will allow players to make choices that will affect their Mass Effect universe while also presenting what happened in the first game.

      • How ficcle my memory is, cheers Kovacs! I know the first was epic, but from what I heard the second was a slight dissapointment. I’m in two minds whether I want to play this or not???

      • Mass Effect 2, best game of the year. Period.

      • @ Grey_Ghost

Mass effect 2 was a much more enjoyable game than Part 1 in my opinion. A few hardcore RPG fans were disappointed that the RPG elements had been heavily streamlined in part 2, but to me it made the game more accessible and enjoyable.

The stories in both games are excellent. If you have a 360 i’d recommend getting both games, but if not then you should definitely pick up Part 2 on PS3 when it comes out.

      • “It was published by MGS and hence it’s staying exclusive on the 360”

There’s a PC version. Best version of the game too.

      • PC, as in Windows? Windows, as in Microsoft?

EA handled the port of the PC version. Microsoft signed off on the port because, well, they also run Games for Windows.

As we’ve mentioned on this site numerous times, for the sake of not being overly pedantic, when we say “exclusive” it’s synonymous with “console exclusive.”

  2. The first game was awesome and ME2 was just amazing, I really can’t wait to play through it again this time on PS3 and in just a few weeks.
Even if you dont like this style of game you just need to be a sci-fi fan to appreciate how brilliant it is.

  3. I don’t know which platform to get it on!

I bought an xbox just for mass effect 1 and 2 in april because I didn’t have a computer good enough to run them. My laptop died so my parents helped me out by getting me a pretty good PC (so now I can run it) and then ME2 and 3 get announced for the PS3.

So now I have an Xbox when I don’t actually need one…well, still got Gears 1 and 2 to playthrough I guess.

    • If you played the first 2 on 360, i’d say get part 3 for 360. I’m in a similar situation where i want to get part 3 for PS3 (as i do most single player games) but i loved how my decisions from part one had lasting affects on part 2 and don’t want to miss that in part 3.

  4. I got ME1 for the PC yesterday. So far it’s complex and complicated with a lot of log reading to gain background info. I like! If this turns out good I might have to get ME2 on PC before it hits the PS3.

    • If you’re enjoying part 1, you’ll love part 2.

  5. Get in there. Just really hope that i love ME2 when it releases on PS3 next year.

  6. Yay!

  7. Well would be bit stupid not too!

    • Agreed, as ME2 is coming out on PS3 now, it would have been pretty bizarre for it to go exclusive again! I was wondering about a timed exclusivity though.

  8. I’m still getting it on 360. One story on 3 games will be awesome
