The Team Ico Collection, no longer a distant rumour and now very much fact (and coming soon) is being handled by Bluepoint – thanks Tim Moss – the guys behind the wonderful, masterful HD remakes of God of War.
It looks like the Collection is shaping up nicely, write-ups from a recent press event in New York showcasing some of Sony’s upcoming games are starting to hit the net and Gamepro’s impressions of Fumito Ueda’s classic double act are largely positive.
The idea is two-fold: to introduce new gamers to two of the best PS2 games ever made, and secondly to refresh hardcore PlayStation fans before The Last Guardian (from the same developer) hits a little later next year. Both remakes are now in HD, and will feature 3D for those lucky enough to have compatible sets.
The games are timeless masterpieces, and haven’t been dulled much by the generational gap we’re all used to, so we’re hugely looking forward to seeing what Bluepoint have managed to do in terms of the resolution jump.
The Team Ico Collection will feature Trophies, but no ‘gimmicks’ so don’t expect Move support.

Despite awesomeness like LBP2, Killzone 3, Portal 2 and Mass Effect 2 coming out in the same period of time, this is still my most anticipated game of the first half of 2011. Partly because I’ve never gotten to play ICO although I’ve really wanted to, and partly because SotC is one of the absolutely best games I’ve ever played.
Cannot. Wait.

I’ve still got them in my ps2 stack but would buy them again (especially HD remakes) in a heartbeat.

Day one :-)

I am so excited to see how SoTC looks. That game is incredible, and anyone who hasn’t played it really, really, really, REALLY should buy this and play it. It honestly is that good.

A year or two ago I Heard about them so I started hunting high and low for them on ps2, especially when I went into smaller games stores that had lots of pre owned stuff but could never find them. They were only on eBay for £20 each. So am hugely anticipating this HD classics collection!

Can’t wait for this, I hope it lives up to everyone’s raving!

I consider myself to be a well-rounded, jaded, cynical, and grumpy individual who rapidly grows bored with games and is always looking for something engaging.
Ico and Shadows of the Colossus are, without doubt, among the tiny handful of games were I have become emotionally engrossed with the characters and gameplay. For those of you who haven’t experienced these gems, you are definitely in for a treat.
At the time they were truly ground-breaking in their story-driven, free-roaming, cinematic, and atmospheric ambition. I would rate them next to Uncharted and Heavy Rain, which is an astounding feet when you consider that Shadows of the Colossus is 5 years old and Ico nearly 10!
I’m almost as excited about the prospect of playing them both through again in beautiful HD as I am about sitting back and letting my draw drop the first time I get to play The Last Guardian.

good to hear :)

I’ve said it before and will again. Oh my. Loved the GoW Collection and this will be no different. If games can be classed as art then these two, in my subjective opinion, are masterworks. Personally I prefer Ico as it has the variety that SoTC lacked but both are amazing. I’m quite a renter of games but will def’ look to buy these day one to support this move to collections.

Ico is the only game my wife has sat with me and watched me play through it such was the beauty of the game. Doubt she’ll do so again as too obsessed with Puzzler World and other such titles on the DS.
