We started life as a PlayStation 3 blog and even though we’re constantly expanding and diversifying, the majority of our staff are primarily PlayStation 3 gamers. So this vote was close to the hearts of many of our staff as we’re sure it will be for many of our readers.
This year saw a strong schedule for Sony’s machine. We saw God of War III and Heavy Rain lead the pack at the start of the year and Gran Turismo 5 screech into view at the tail end of the year.
So it is perhaps surprising that one game stood out so prominently above all others. Even with such quality competition as MAG, 3D Dot Game Heroes and ModNation Racers there was one very clear winner.
Our PlayStation 3 Exclusive Game of the Year is Quantic Dream’s narrative-heavy, near-future detective thriller, Heavy Rain.

It might be worth pointing out that GT5 had only been out for two weeks when we took these votes. Although usually more recent games do better in these votes so perhaps Heavy Rain’s dominance is even more impressive.
I was personally very pleased to see a game that tried to do something with story do so well, even if it was flawed in places. Great soundtrack too :)

Whaaaat GT5 isn’t top?! Meh I havent played heavy rain so I can’t really comment on that but graphics look good on it.
God of war rightfully deserves its place though.
I guess its all down to personal preference, personally Heavy rain to me looks slow, all talk no kill but I could be wrong :P Maybe theres an FPS scene where they give you an AK-47 to take down these terrorists hiding in your basement “FLASHBANG THROUGH THE DOOR!”,just maybe :P

This completely unique and moving game definitely deserves the title of game of the year. No console has even come close to the experience Heavy Rain gives.
Tip of the Hat to TSA, also for all the rest of the featured winners. Allthough I still don’t think Mass Effect 2 as a multi platform title :)

I only played Heavy Rain twice, and it bored me to death. Personal opinion, but as a game, I didn’t like it. God of War would have had my vote.

Don’t have the game and have no intention of getting it but from the comments and level awards it has achieved, sounds like a blast for like mindeds who like to get lost in a wonderful fantasy environment.

Yeah, Heavy rain won’t be as fun in the second playthrough because you will expect in a vague idea on what will happen. Heavy rain is just extremly fun in its first playthrough since what comes next is completely unknown.

But I still think GT5 was better since its just more fun for me, but that probably has something to do with my fancy for cars.
