‘Dreamcast Collection’ Games Revealed

SEGA’s back catalogue is crammed full of videogame goodness, so when a ‘Dreamcast Collection’ was confirmed we at TSA all got rather flustered and started to imagine what games would be released.  Would it be Shenmue?  JSR?  Well, no.  The list is as follows:

  • Sonic Adventure
  • Crazy Taxi
  • SEGA Bass Fishing
  • Space Channel 5: Part 2

“The Dreamcast console is still remembered as a pioneering console for online gaming,” commented Gary Knight, VP of Marketing at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe. “We are delighted to be able to offer to our large community of dedicated fans a collection such as Dreamcast Collection for them to enjoy old favourites on this generation of consoles.”

One can’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment.  The game will be released on PC and Xbox 360, via retail and digital distribution, on February 25 in Europe, and February 22 in North America.

  1. Sometimes I feel I was the only one who enjoyed Incoming! Where is it?!

    • Never heard of it… lol

      • Shooting and exploding UFOs, lots of them, from turrets, boats, helicopters, harrier jump jets, space ships, hovercrafts all to a pulsing techno soundtrack! Damn you young kids and lack of gaming nostalga ;)

It was awesome with some amazing explosion effects for back then (on the PC anyway but definitely also released on Dreamcast). Developed by Rage Software if I recall correctly. Review of it here http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/incoming/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gsupdates&tag=updates%3Btitle%3B1

I want a 2011 HD version – if only I had an ounce of programming knowledge….

      • I had a game with ants, godzilla’s, octopus’s, man-eating worms and aliens…. sadly I can’t remember the name nor find it on Wikipedia’s list of DC games.

Its was fun that was when I was only but nine in this Planet Earth.

  2. Sega why

  3. sonic adventure was available for about £3.20 odd in the xmas psn sales…so this collection is gonna be dirt cheap. Still a bit rubbish seeing as Ive already bought Crazy Taxi and Sonic over the psn and the rest are not quite dreamcast “classics” in my mind…
Wonder if Sonic Adventure is the DX version or not though. Thoughts…?

  4. So the ones already out :P

  5. SC5 for Kinect? That would be good.

    • Bass fishing was great, reel an’ all

  6. I get the idea Sega is going to take a look at the sales records for this collection and go “Oh. Maybe we should have done something else instead.”

  7. I was hoping for Phantasy Star Online (or offline, I don’t care…) but it was pretty obvious that this wouldn’t happen. But not even Shenmue? I think I’ll pass.

  8. That is just poor.

  9. I had a Dreamcast… and I really enjoyed it. I played a lot of Hydro Thunder and SoulCalibur. Lots of good memories hosting inebriated SoulCalibur parties at my house. Ahhh… the good ol’ days. :)

  10. GAME OVER Noooo! Where is Sega Rally :(
When I first saw this list I thought it was a joke, surely a blu ray disc can fit more than 4 dreamcast games. Virtua Fighter, Sonic Adventure 2, Jet Set Radio, DAYTONA, SHENMUE, i am ENRAGED loool. Sorry for my use of captial letters :D
Anyway we’re all probably better off buying a dreamcast than wasting money on this >.>

    • “Sega uses splash but nothing happens” sums up my dissapointment shared with Magikarp
