Homefront’s publisher THQ has apparently been taking notes from the deal made between Microsoft and Activision earlier this year. At a Homefront press even on Friday, a partnership was announced between THQ and Microsoft that will give the Xbox 360 version of the game one exclusive map, and first access to all future DLC. No word was given on how much DLC we can expect or how long the DLC will remain Xbox 360 exclusive. What we do know, however, is that the one exclusive map Xbox owners will be getting is called ‘Suburb’.
More information about this deal is set to go live on next week’s edition of ‘Inside Xbox’, so we’ll keep you posted when we know more.

That made me not want to buy nor play the game.

Very interested in this. An FPS with a strong dedicated SP narrative? Yes please. As for the MP stuff, I’ll probably give it a couple of hours then play something else.
The only MP I’ve ever really spent any time with COD4. I’m by no means against MP or anything but it’ll take something special to hold my attention and I’d love it if it turned out to be this.
I guess I’m saying that a few exclusive maps won’t make the slightest bit of difference to a purchase.

Welcome to TSA!
It’s not in the game because this generation of gaming has come up with a new revenue stream called DLC. This model allows publishers and developers to generate revenue after the game has been sold. As games have huge budgets compared to games of the past, this method allows publishers to earn money to help offset the cost of their multi-million dollar budgeted games. It’s a business decision.
Some people believe that publishers and developers should put *everything* possible into a game because, after all, you’re paying for it. However, in the real world, such a decision is really not sound business practice. As this is the gaming industry, publishers are naturally out to create great games, yes, but to also make a profit. DLC allows them to maximise this profit.
If you don’t agree with their insidious methods, that’s cool. I’m afraid it’s never going to change, however. If anything, they’ll come up with new ways to generate money. That is their modus operandi, essentially.
