DCUO Voice Chat Fixed In Latest Update

Earlier today a number of fixes were made to SOE’s superhero MMO, including the long-awaited update to the game’s voice chat system which is now live on both EU and US servers. Below is a full list of minor issues which have also been resolved overnight:

  • Abilities: Psychic Empowerment now properly restores power.
  • Abilities: Performing a dodge roll will no longer dodge healing abilities.
  • Challenges: Power Girl now drops loot in the level 30 Challenge Mode for Storming the Ivory Tower.
  • Faction Rewards: Villain faction rewards now only require Marks of Allegiance and no longer require an unavailable badge type.
  • Feats: Any feat that requires a specific number of PvP wins should now be granted properly after the correct number of wins.
  • Trait Resets: If you reset traits while in a different shape change form you will no longer remain stuck in that form.
  • Trait Resets: All buffs cast by the player character from abilities granted by traits will now be removed when resetting traits.
  • Trait Resets: Resetting traits with a weapon type equipped that was earned by a trait (i.e. not the weapon type chosen at character create) will no longer continue to give the stats of the equipped weapon with no basic abilities.
  • Now all stats will be removed from equipped weapons for which you do not have the required trait. In this situation, you should have the same basic punching abilities that you get if you unequip your weapon. Purchasing the trait to grant access to that weapon type again will now restore those stats.

  1. i wish there was a demo for this. not being familiar with the mmo genre i’m a little reticent to part with £40 for something i’m not going to enjoy.
if i wait till it’s cheap/second hand, will i be missing the point?

    • i would like a demo for every game so i could try before i buy

      • i would like a toilet made of gold, but that’s not happening either.

i’ll just have to play with my figurines and throw £10 a month down the drain instead

    • There was a demo which ran for about a couple of months (available via pre-order, special invite or PS+)

One thing I could see SOE doing is allowing people to download a trial for the game. However, at 15GB some people may be put off, and it would mean Sony would have to think about digital distribution for the full game, something which I imagine isn’t at the top of the priority list.

      • Was this not a BETA rather than a demo?

yeah i was aware of that, but don’t subscribe to ps+ as it has very little that i either haven’t got, or piques my interest.

if it was to be as a trial, surely it wouldn’t be at 15gb? that would indicate a full download of the game, or do you mean a trial, and then purchase the unlock key?

as i say, i’m not a devotee of the genre, so am not sure how fesible a “one level” download demo would be. i have played demo’s of rpg’s before, so don’t imagine it’s that much of a leap is it? or do i have the mmo thing completly wrong?

    • Well to be honest it would be difficult to create a “demo” for an MMO since it’s so reliant on servers and fluidity in the world, so it likely would be around 15GB. Although, they could use the training portion, which is single player, although that’s kind of beside the point.

    • Sorry to tell you this, but yes, you have it wrong ;)

MMOs have HUGE open worlds filled with players. Confining the player to “one level” such as the tutorial mission of the game would do DCUO no justice, hence why SOE would probably never do this.

    • i’ve played WOW and DC so i’ve tried a few MMO’s now, they’re what we call a Marmite game, you will either love it or hate it, ,being a ps3 run game it has a console feel that the pc versions don’t i.e combos in a beat em up style. whereas the pc has letters or numbers for each individual move, so it adds a little more of a true gaming style rather than a total geeky add on feel(you know who you are). What i’m trying to say is give it ago, i bought Bloodstone due to my bond up bringing and it was a waste of £45 pounds, so £40 to give a game a go that has no limits for future gameplay is a bargain.

  3. I’d really liked it if they could fix the queueing for Alerts. I played for 7 hours today an only managed to get in two, despite being queued the entire time.

  4. seeing as some other MMORPGs have become free to play recently, do you think there’ll be a bright light of hope that DCUO will become free to play later in the future
