GAME BAFTAs Revealed, Brotherhood Nommed Seven Times

The Academy has today announced the nominations for the GAME BAFTAs. In total there’s 44 different games up for nomination, with Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood topping the lot with seven nominations.

[boxout]Black Ops is in there too, and it’s nice to see Heavy Rain up for artistic achievement, although with LIMBO up for the same award our money’s on the little black and white dude.

Any thoughts?  Happy to see some great handheld games in there – it’s been a fabulous year for portables with Ghost of Sparta, Cut The Rope etc.

The awards will take place on Wednesday the 16th of March at the London Hilton on Park Lane.  Swanky.  They’ll be streamed live for the first time at http://go.ign.com/baftamicrosite and at http://www.baftagameaward.com

  1. Nice to see Bioshock 2 up there.
Cut The Rope – Simple but addictive

  2. I don’t think Black Ops deserves the nominations, let alone the rewards. Best Multiplayer? I think PS3 owners would disagree heavily! Otherwise, there is some tough competition, some great titles up there. I look forward to the awards!

    • I know it’s in the artistic award too????

    • Agree, if anything it should get booed at the awards!
Fifa 11? how, there have been cutbacks from 10, and the fun is slowly being taken out in favour of a simulation game.
Still a good game though which I end up buying every year.

  3. AC doesn’t deserve *that* many noms, while CoD hardly deserves any.

The real travesty though? FIFA 11 up for Best Game *shakes head*

  4. Oh, and a complete snub for RDR too, barring public voting award. Rather disappointed at that.

    • I’ve heard that R* didn’t put their games for the awards.

    • Yeah, Rockstar don’t put their games forward.

  5. Some really tough categories there.
It’s easy to forget what a great year it was for consumers and this year is set to be even better.

  6. Black ops – artistic achievement? Hahahahahahaha! Whaaaaaaat?

    • Black ops – technical achievement? Hahahahahahaha! Whaaaaaaaaat?

      • Hm, triple post, apologies. Did I get a broken black ops disc or something?

  7. No Gran Turismo in Technical innovation or goty?

  8. Black Ops really doesn’t deserve a lot of those nominations, what makes it deserve artistic achievement?

Fifa 11 best game? No way!!!

    • That’s the worst joke I’ve heard in quite a while. Artistic? Call of Duty?

Personally I’m not much interested in review scores, game of the year awards and similar stuff. So as long as COD doesn’t win GOTY, I’ll be fine. My personal pick would be GOW3 though, great game.

  9. How do we vote for the game award? Also, if that’s the only 1 voted for by the public, how are the other winners decided?

    • yeah id like to know, some random unbiased people must be hard to find :P

  10. Looking through the lists, I think there’s more games I disagree with them being in some of the catagories than the ones I agree deserve to be in there!
