Modern Warfare 3 Revealed In 5 Days?

That Video Game Blog have been sent some bloodied dog tags inscribed with a website url, findmakarov.com. The dogs tags are also inscribed with the message ‘end the war’ and the personnel details of Shepherd, the bad guy from Modern Warfare 2.

If you click over to the website an image of Makarov appears and is quickly replaced by a countdown timer. That timer will expire in about five days time, right in the in the middle of the GDC.

It sounds like the Modern Warfare hype machine is about to kick into gear, and though no one is going to be suprised by the announcement of Modern Warfare 3, the message ‘end the war’ is intriguing. Does it refer to the end of Makarov, or perhaps the end of Modern Warfare? A trilogy would be a nice way to wrap up the series and Activision can then move on with Call of Duty: Future Pants Adventure (or whatever the next one will be called).

  1. Urghh I hope its the end of the series. Seriously, MW2’s story was such a clusterfuck I didn’t even bother to see the end. Thankfully, a friend filled me in and I didnt miss anything. I can appreciate big set pieces and going for the Hollywood style story but seriously? The White House level was horrible.

What saddens me is seeing how the series’ has gone down (in my opinion ofcourse) over just ONE game. Its like all the success went put them under pressure to create something so extraordinary they just made it a mess. If they had released a more subtle story like the original MW (by subtle I mean quietly epic, if that makes any sense) and made a few improvements to multiplayer I would’ve been sold and happy. But instead we get glitchy unbalanced chaos online and a ridiculous story even by Micheal Bays standards.

Black Ops was fun as the story was an improvement and the online had splitscreen but I really feel the series’ is stale and I wont be purchasing another unless there are major changes to the engine and setup. Which there wont be. This is Activision we’re taling about.

  2. Not sure i’ll get COD this year, for the first time since i picked up COD4 im seriously considering not bothering. If they start charging for online, im 100% out!

  5. gah, damn phone!….. Sorry for the multiple posts!

    • Are you not sure you will get COD this year by any chance? ;)

  6. Didnt activision say that infinity ward (the old one) was wrong to start advertising MW2 when 3arc were releasing there dlc, but yet they do it again!?

    • That’s true, and a good point. Right on the release of the ps3’s dlc map pack (I believe?)
Pretty cheeky. Not that it will dent the sales of the map packs, as long as their are people playing CoD, there will be enough suckers who buy the overpriced dlc. (And, thieving idiots who share the dlc illegally)

  7. found this link on rob bowlings’ twitter page, check it out.

stressing not connected to bowling, its just where link is displayed

  8. Lots of emotional opinions out there. I don’t see why people get so worked up in their views for and against it. If you don’t like it don’t buy it, lots of people do enjoy it and saying things like “hope it’s the last one” are not justified as a lot of people like the games and hope they continue; no one is making you buy it or have anything to do with it.

I wonder if some of you think the same about the various sports games that are released every year with very little change made?

Lastly, I will be buying the DLC come March 3rd, I spend a lot of time on the game and enjoy it so a tenner is nothing to freshen it up a bit and I do not think that makes me or anyone else who buys it a sucker.

  9. Ah I see the COD news has brought along a lot of bitching and moaning as usual ;) (J O K E)
Personally I cant wait for MW3. Hope its mainly IW that have worked on it. Always enjoy their games.
