Following last week’s store update it seems Sony are working on something behind the scenes in regards to the PlayStation Store.
Over on the EU PlayStation Blog, site member Roxas598 posted the comment:
Oh yeah Ross any plans to re-design the store??
kinda like WLM change the desgin every year to keep it phresh Lol
To which Ross McGrath (from the PlayStation Store Team) replied:
There is some activity in this area actually, nothing to share yet.
It just goes to show that PlayStation are working on a making the store “phresh”, so does tomorrow’s maintenance prepare us for a new-look store?
And, as the store is part of the system software – getting its images and content from the network – does this mean a new firmware is coming soon, too?
We’ll just have to wait and find out.

I personally welcome our new-look store overlords. Also, I hope they’re doing something with the XMB. MOAR STREAMLINE PLOX.

The Store itself doesn’t need redesigning, only the content to bring it in line with the US Store, especially Demo-wise, they get loads each week, we only get 1 or 2.

TBH I haven’t bought anything from the UK store in a while, I get my kicks on the US store, and it’s cheaper.

How about making sure the store can handle the amount of users every time a COD map pack is released?
also why don’t they focus more on oh i don’t know getting us the same amount of decent content as the other stores?

Store doesnt need a massive redesign in my opinion. Maybe a few new tabs and catergories would make things easier but honestly they should be wasting their time on that.
It’d be nice to see the much maligned and requested featured cross game chat released (although I suspect it shall be a PS+ feature but even then, atleast it would be there) and a new XMB design would be nice to look at too. I’m a bit bored of the rather plain line of icons.
But even then, its all just trivial. None of it really needs a redesign, they serve their functions well.

Needs a standardized info section so it’s clear what you are actually buying.

I wish Asia could get the same content as the U.S. For example: There is no First Strike add on and ME2 :( Although for ME2 there are add on’s just not the game itself.. I find it a bit unfair and just wish they could work out the whole “copyright” red-tape.

I’d like one improvement to the Store….the ability to Search through your “Previously Downloaded” content. I currently have to search through 600+ items :(
