It was reported yesterday that a possible delay to the UK release of MotorStorm Apocalypse was being considered. Sony has now confirmed that a delay is indeed happening:
“Although we have shipped the game into the channel last week, given that we are able to do so, we have chosen to postpone the launch in the UK. In the meantime we will continue to monitor the situation very closely.
We are shocked and saddened to see the impact of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and our thoughts are with all those affected, including our colleagues within the Sony family, living and working throughout Japan.
We are very conscious of the parallels between these events and the underlying theme in MotorStorm and are doing everything we can to be as sensitive as possible to the situation. Although the game itself is already in distribution, we are ceasing any further shipments and removing as much of the marketing materials as possible.”
We will keep you updated as and when more information appears.

I understand why it’s delayed. Gutted though, been looking forward to getting it.

Oh, FFS! I was going to get this on my birthday. My birthday is Friday.

Had booked plenty of time to get my hands on with the Motorstorm, but it’s understandable why the game has been delayed.

it’s a shame, but i don’t blame them.
it’s certainly a better response than microsoft’s tweet bing ad thing.

Sensible, and the correct thing to do given the situation.

Whilst I’m disappointed from a gaming perspective, I completely agree with and understand the decision.

You may be interested to know that Amazon’s UK site still (5:53pm Tues) has the game dated for release on Friday 18th.
So either morals are in short supply at Amazon, or this is simply a business decision about a game that could be set anywhere.

I think the difference is that the soldiers who die in wars (and games tend to mostly avoid showing civilian deaths) have (in most countries, at least) chosen to join the armed forces, whereas natural disasters aren’t something you have a choice over.
