Music game sales may be falling, and Guitar Hero may be on ice for the time being, but that hasn’t stopped Ubisoft from announcing ‘Rocksmith’. Launching in September, the game is expected to ship with 45 songs on the disc, which will include tracks from the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Nirvana and the Animals.
The big selling point though is that rather than coming with a plastic peripheral, it comes with a standard input jack which will be able to plug “most” electric guitars into your console. Ubisoft hopes that the game will actually teach you to play the guitar.
Ubisoft senior vice president of marketing, Tony Key, had the following to say:
“Guitar Hero is a party game. Rocksmith is a music experience.”
Apparently Ubisoft are in talks with Gibson et al to release a game bundle that comes with an electric guitar.

Or you might mean Power Gig which turned out awfully bad.

Does sound like Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, which got pretty much universally panned.
However, if I can plug in my existing electric guitar rather than having to spend £100s on a new guitar with special pickups, then it could be a very good thing.

Hmmm, sounds interesting, will be interested to see how this works with a real guitar, Mine are gathering dust, and I’ve bought various books to try and kickstart my learning again but always lost interest.

sounds interesting, especially the ‘use any guitar’ option.

Sounds useful! Not sure about fun though. If they can muster up the same addictiveness of some games, it’d be great!
