CVG are reporting that Activision’s next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game is set for an April reveal.
The news comes by way of Future published mag PSM3, which claims that “the next in Activision’s megaton FPS series will be announced in mid-April.”
This, of course, would fit nicely with last year’s reveal of Black Ops, which was also around about the same sort of time.
“Based on the ending of MW2,” says the magazine, “we’d be surprised if the story doesn’t pick up with Soap and Price on the run, after they were set up by General Shephard.”
EA’s own first person shooter, Battlefield 3, will be up against stiff competition.

its all about demand and supply. if consumer demand for a partiular franchise is very strong, it makes sense to meet the demand in order to maximise profits, by also using an extension strategy in the form of DLC at extortionate prices (unless highly value added), its a franchise that will see major revenue in the long term. You can see Activision in a sort of monopoly position in the FPS market. By this, quality suffers due to little alternatives that provide the level of experience consumers need.
At least they haven’t gone down the one time online pass code like EA. Friend brings over his copy of FIFA 11 to play and we cant play online because it only restricts usage to that system

I think they need to hurry up and release details on Modern Warfare 3. Hopefully we get a trailer and this game is TONS better than the crap they put out called Black Ops. I read this interesting article on a Modern Warfare 3 fan site http://mwarfare3.com/ and they were talking about if MW3 can remain the top FPS. I think it’s possible, I always enjoyed the Modern Warfare 3 titles as they seem to have better gameplay as compared to the “Call of Duty” titles. The franchise has taken a huge step back with the previous two games released, and I think with the competition stepping up that Activision will make sure this is a great game. They also said the game will be out on November 11, which is interesting. Are there any other MW3 sites out there with new information on the game? That was the only one I can find that has news on modern warfare 3 consistently and provides new info.

The COD series has to be hugely improved if im to buy it. Im probably only going to buy one more game this year as im so busy, which will probably be battlefield 3.
Purchased Battlefield BC2 off a mate not too long ago and I love it. I play it once a week, and I haven’t actually touched the campaign yet. The slightly slower pace with the large maps means that I don’t have to concentrate too much, and the fact that the amount of kills/deaths you have in a game doesnt show up on the scoreboard means that I get frustrated a lot less, and I can concentrate on getting the objective, rather than selfish kills. BF is just more fun that cod now IMO. Shame that the people who cannot control helicopters in BF always manage to quickly run to them and take them…, flying off without a co-pilot…pillocks. Then you see them get shot down a moment later…
But yeah im more likely to be picking up BF3 instead of the next cod, im just really put off by COD. Well I did play cod1 excessively for about 3 years on PC (properly addicted), COD4 for about 2 years (fun with friends and first new gen console game I got) and played the other COD’s. Basically im bored of the same old cod and want some haddock :D

I’m not really surpised. we all knew there would be another COD this year. It is a yearly franchise. As long as the games sell, there will be one each year. I hope all the platforms will have the sam quailty and not 1/3 being playable and the other two being unplayable.(that is what i have heard.) I think it will be out in November.

it feels like only yesterday that black ops was being revealed, time flys when you call of duty it :P
but looking forward to this, much prefer infinity ward, and MW2 was a great game compared to blops

Not sure how I feel about this as I much prefer Treyarch’s work (W@W, QoS & BlOps) to anything IW have done, although as Raven Software & sledgehammer have been heavily involved thanks to the sabotage of IW all hope for me may not be lost.
