Two Words: Burnout Crash

One of the original series of Burnout’s finest ideas was the Crash mode, a hugely enjoyable section that involved smashing your car headlong into busy junctions to cause as much damage as possible – they were brilliant.

Fans can rejoice, then, because it looks like EA are working on a Crash-specific Burnout called, wait for it, Burnout Crash.  According to this classification, it’s a PG with ‘Mild violence’ so it looks like they’re keeping it dehumanised and blood free.  Good.

GamerBytes reckon it might be a digital download too – suits us fine.  Burnout Crash is locked for PS3 and Xbox 360, we’ll let you know if we get any more details – but this is great news for fans.

  1. So it’s not a full game? I’d rather have Paradise 2.

  2. Glad this news wasn’t released yesterday as we would all be suspecting April Fool.

  3. Ah sweet. I missed Crash Mode! Criterion ftw

  4. Id like to be excited, but with EA behind this I cant help but feel it will be the equivalent of their Sims console ports. I hope EA can earn back my trust with this.

  5. Crash mode in Burnout 3 was fun as long as it didn’t become a chore. Unfortunately, two thirds of the events were Crash challenges, and after the 50th one, all you wanted to do was finish the game ASAP.

  6. Amazing! Spent a lot of time on this on previous games. As long as Criterion get the hands all over this, then so shall I.

  7. Never liked them since the original as I held the first one with such fond regard. However, when I have a gaming drought I will invest in Burnout.

  8. Long live Burnout!

  9. I (like others) would prefer that this was held back for the inevitable Burnout Paradise 2 (or whatever other crazy title they may come up with!) – They surely must be working, on or at least thinking about a second one considering the popularity of the first no?
I used to spend hours on crash mode in the PS2 incarnations of burnout, but Showtime unfortunately didn’t grab me in the same way for some reason – Something like this as an option in a new burnout game on disc would be absolutely immense.

  10. yep yep yep, just what i’ve been waiting for
