The NPD numbers are in and Sony has announced some fantastic figures for the PS3.
As of March 29th the PS3 has managed a “sell in” unit sales number of 50 million worldwide.
As of April 3rd the PlayStation Move has passed eight million units, which is good but lagging behind the more expensive Kinect. A rather interesting figure is the fact there are 155 Move supported games as of the end of March.
With the stellar PS3 line-up this year are we finally going to see sales overtake the Xbox 360?

Pretty great figures. I am enjoying Move.

PS3 has already overtaken the Xbox in terms of active consoles. Many of the Xbox sales figures are for out of warranty RROD replacements and simply users wanting to upgrade to a console that is quiet and (mostly) workd properly.
Microsoft must be laughing theselves silly. The got the jump by launching their console prematurely before was was ready, and equiped with last-gen storage, and their fans rewarded them by buying a another console a few years down the line.
I’d be surprised if Microsoft has more than 35m active consoles, against the 50m active PS3 consoles….
