New Modern Warfare Dubbed “Project Collossus”

The next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (the third) is apparently penned for an 8th of November release, according to multiple sources (collated by Eurogamer).

In addition, supermarket chain has the game down on their till system as “Call of Duty: Project Collossus” which, it appears, makes it one of the site’s sources.  Handy.

The rumours are expected to continue for a little while, the hype building only a good thing for Activision’s (and, indeed, the industry’s) biggest IP, although the publisher’s financial results conference call kicks off at half nine tonight.

Project Collossus, or whatever it’s called, will be going up against EA’s Battlefield 3.

  1. Not going for the hype this time. I’m going to give this one a miss.

  2. I think something is wrong with the reply function.

  3. the Forbin Project?

  4. Will probably take away many sales from uncharted 3 and Skyrim :(

    • not on my part, will be enjoying both fps & the two you mentioned. going to be one of, if not the best years gaming i’ve had, in a little over 25yrs:)

  5. I am not surpised. November is going to be an interesting month regarding sales. This is going to mean that they will spam the same COD advert 50million times in one ad break.:(

    • I don’t why this has appeared here. I think TSA is misbehaving today.

    • And BF3 ads. Both Activision and EA are going to be pushing the ads out.

You what would be funny, hope EA are listening, EA should get sponsored ads on Machinima so a BF3 ad show up before a MW3 trailer.

  6. If this offers something totally different I think it stands a chance. However I’ve heard a lot of criticisms about the recent COD, even I didn’t buy black ops, so I think people will be shifting to the battlefield series. Well I prefer bc2 to the new cods now anyway. But this competition from bf is great as I’m guessing its putting cod under pressure to deliver.

  7. The chances of me playing, let alone buying, the next COD/MW is pretty much zero especially with the likes of Theif 4, Uncharted 3, Rachect & Clank, Batman Arkham City, Sorcery and a new Assassin’s Creed almost all released in Q4 this year.

    Oh, and possibly the NGP.

  8. No point, Skyrim is in November which is beyond Collossul

  9. Battlefield 3 for me, COD has lost me. They promise this and that each time and nothing changes, still pathetic connection/lag/matchmaking/disconnect problems in every game.

  10. Might they try to drop the Call of Duty name altogether like they tried with Modern Warfare 2? Could it be Modern Warfare 3: Project Colossus. Could Project Colossus be some sort of secret nuclear mission? Do I really care? All shall soon be revealed in a suitably melodramatic way.

    High-ho Silver, Awaaaaaaaaaaaayy!!!
