Xbox Live Marketplace Goes Down

The Xbox Live Marketplace is current down, and users are currently unable to browse the games sections of the store.

The official Support page has been updated already with the message that the following are out of action:

  • Browsing Indie Games from the Xbox 360 console or Xbox.com
  • Browsing the Games for Windows – LIVE Marketplace on a PC
  • Browsing Games Marketplace from the Xbox 360 console or Xbox.com

“We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue,” say Microsoft, who were admirably quick to respond to the downtime.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.”

  1. At least it might stop the Xbox brigade from slagging off PS3 owners for a wee while lol

    • Now if we could just find a way to get the PS3 brigade from slaggin on Xbox owners for a wee while.

      • Hertz?

        Welcome to 2007 – 2009.

  2. Sony has finally tracked down their hackers, hired them and pointed them at Microsoft :)

    Fact

  3. It begins! (Possibly)

  4. I love how 1 part of LIVE goes down (browsing/purchasing games only, not DLC, videos etc) and it’s automatcially compared to PSN going offline and user information being stolen.

  5. bugger, i wanted to try daggerdale today. :(

looks like xbox.com is down too.

are we at the start of some big hacker apocalypse or something?

  6. I find it quite amusing that on forums.xbox.com, just down the page a little, in the My Forums box it says “Anonymous has not yet identified any favorite posts.”

Probably always there is it not?

  7. Hackers?

  8. Wasn’t this the same response and timeframe as Sony? They immediately said the site was down for maintenance or something to that effect. The author appears to suggest that Microsoft have explained the cause of the down time unlike Sony who didn’t. in which case could said author please explain why xbox Market place is down. Might help stop all the rumours about hackers etc. I also have credit card details saved with M$ which slightly concerns me.

    • Precisely what I said earlier.

This will no doubt turn out to be nothing, and I hope it is, but this initial response is no different to what Sony. I’m still not sure why MS should be praised here.

      • *what Sony did.

      • I wasn’t fussed by Sony’s responses like eveyone else. I just get a bit tired of the digs and insults against Sony and even ms who have stung me on several occasions. They are both as good/bad as each other. I just got the impression from the authors insults aimed at Sony that it meant ms had found the problem and informed users already. Just wanted to know what it was so I didn’t have to even slightly stress about my saved card details. Even just a ‘it was not caused by hackers’ would be enough for me.

  9. I hope hackers have hacked it, it’d be hilarious lol. My Xbox Gold finishes on Saturday so I wouldn’t care if XB went down to “fix this issue”.

  10. it was only out for an hour or so and came back with new content??
