Clearly somewhat annoyed at L.A. hogging all the limelight Sony Japan have hit back. Their dramatic news is that the PS3 is finally getting an official Bluetooth keyboard. Unlike the already available keypad this is a full keyboard.
The compact keyboard launches on 30th June for ¥5,000 (£38, €42.50). It features a PS button (in the lower right corner) that can be used to switch your PS3 on and off. For pointer manipulation purposes it provides a love button TrackPoint-style nub with the two mouse buttons placed below the space bar.
It would have fitted nicely into the range of text entry solutions the last time we took a look had it been available then. What do you think? There is perhaps not much to differentiate it from other Bluetooth keyboards other than that PS button. If it was released in Europe would you be interested?

Wow, Sony have excellent product designers, the keyboard looks very slick and functional, especially with using the shallower keys, rather than the large ones so many keyboard manufacturers use currently.

There’s no point in this keyboard for the PS3 browser as its brutal, complete c**p. Untill they decide to update the browser then maybe I would consider picking it up.

Unless the ps3 is some peoples’ only/preferred way to browse at home, then there is a point. Not everyone has or wants a pc/laptop. Myself i’d like a fairly top of the range laptop someday, but zero interest in pcs. (by some responses on this article, you’d wouldn’t think ps3 news & opion, was what got this site going. Wearn’t all pc nerds, im solely a ps3 nerd ty.)

I just use a usb wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse set up which works great with the PS3 and only cost £24. I would rather have bluetooth than infa red, but I’ll stick with the set up I have as I can’t see enough advantage in upgrading.
