You know it’s Wednesday when Sony hit you with inFAMOUS 2 for £50.  £50.  Boosh, right to the head.  It’s good, but it’s not that good…  UK gamers will need to wait until Friday, too.

Anyway, there’s also Beyond Good and Evil HD as the Store plays catchup (£12) and a surprise download of Dante’s Inferno for £16. PSP owners can pick up the new Minis game Ninjamurai.

  1. Wasn’t BGE HD supposed to be 10€ !? I know there’s a discount thanks to Plus, but I think the price was lower on 360. First the delay, now this…

    • I was just thinking about the PS+ discount. Does anyone know the price for plusites? £7.99?

    • BGE HD is 800MSP on XBLA or £6.85 according to an online converter I just used

      Why the publishers haven’t priced it at £6.99 is a mystery, surely Sony could point out the disparity too?

    • Its only a fiver on Steam which I believe is the original so I don’t see the point :/

      Eshop is up so meh…, hope its discounted on Plus

    • Wasn’t it help as an exclusive for a promotion MS were doing? Could be a similar thing, or a contract agreement whereby MS always have it for cheapest?

      • I think MS may have locked prices for games that aren’t on special offer and must be multiples of 400MP but I could be wrong.

      • Either Ubisoft have had a change of heart, or SCEE ballsed up again but BG&E is now £7.99 for non plussers and £6.40 for plussers.

    • It’s £7.99, with + discount on top of that. It was a pricing error! You will be refunded if you bought it

  2. No thankyou think i will wait till friday and get my Infamous 2 for a fiver with the Brink trade in offer at game.

    • is that deal real,was going to pick infamous up on friday for £40 but if i can trade in brink and pay a fiver then that would be great.any special things i need to know before i try game.

    • Awesome, i can get Infamous 2 AND Red Faction for £20, going to trade in Brink and L.A Noire. So disappointed by those games….

    • Change that fiver to a tenner. According to your link, and everything I know it’s Brink plus £9.99.

    • Also, if you’re happy sharing your PSN details with a few mates – you could each download a copy and split the cost

    I know they don’t want to undercut their other distribution channels (retail), so are sticking to RRP, but that’s ridiculous.

    • May I suggest the honirable gentlemen recalls the news a few months back that Dowloadanle Mass Effect 2 has sold quite well at £50. Someone is willing to pay those prices..

      • I wonder if the prices have anything to do will users from other countries logging in to the UK store to buy games. The UK is one of the cheapest places to buy games. £50 converts to a normal games price in some other SCE territories.

        It’s also unlike Sony to price so high on the PSN, usually it’s just third parties.

      • They’re undercutting some retailers here in Holland.

      • Grrrr. Mass Effect 2. I bought the game NEW because I wanted the Cerberus codes – they wouldn’t work and nobody from EA would help me. I ended up paying £11.99 for them cos I have to have everything. :(

    • Eeeh… You should see the prices in retail in Belgium. 69,99 Euro it is: that’s 62.2602 GBP. And people pay these kind a sums. People are crazy not to order with zavvi a.o.

        In the UK many of us only earn the hourly minimum wage of £5.93 per hour . What im getting at is that say a guy who works in for instance a Subway restaurant here in UK gets £5.93 per hour and a guy in Belgium gets €8.31 per hour minimum wage for doing the exact same job and amount of hours (correct me if im wrong !) surely the prices are perhaps closer than they appear to look because your minimum wage is so much more ?

      • Yup, currency conversions across borders don’t work because they don’t take into account wages & living standards in those countries.

        a better way would be to compare how many hours & mins work it takes to earn the price of the game at the average wage

        Or strangely to use something like Big Macs as currency, Burgernomics, basically work out how Big Macs a game would ‘cost’ in each country. Think Kevling told me about it.

      • On average in those countries in Europe ive visited the games tend to go new for 49.99 euros and UK is 39.99 sterling .
        It would take a Belgian 6 hours 15 mins to earn his game and it would take a Briton 6 hours 45 mins on the minimum wage so therefore game prices are very similar if not a little cheaper in Europe and if they can get them from the UK then they are making huge savings (and we Britons dont have the option of another country to get ours from cheaper)

    At least White Knight Chronicles: Origins is a very good price though.
    SCE can’t hide behind the publishers this time though- inFamous 2 is published by them!

    it’s a fiver on Steam, 7 quid for better textures :/

    • The HD version is the equivalent of £6.85 on XBLA

  8. This is why download only will never take off. Fools. We used to be told that cds and dvds were so expensive because of the packaging. Who on earth is going to pay £50 for a ‘meh’ game?!?

    Shoulda been may 18th and still no sign, thought they were gonna do multiple publishes till they catch up?

  10. I can’t decide… £50 to download inFAMOUS 2 or buy it on disc for £35 online and then get trade-in value on it when complete…
    Come on Sony, wise up!
