Duke Nukem’s PR Company Calls Out Reviewers

The Redner Group, apparently responsible for ‘PR’ for Duke Nukem Forever (although not in Europe) has hit out at reviewers for their Duke Nukem scores over Twitter.

The Tweet, which has since been deleted, said “too many went too far with their reviews” and that the company is “reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn’t.”  A pretty nasty tactic.

There’s been an apology since.  “I have to apologize to the community,” it said. “I acted out of pure emotion. I will be sending each of you a private apology.”

Duke’s publisher, 2K Games, had nothing to do with this whole thing, according to later tweets from the same firm.

TheSixthAxis scored the game 5/10.

  1. Never heard about Duke Nukem before this game and seeing this game for the first time I can say its deserves 1 out of 10.

1 for the sex and the girls in the game but otherwise for a person who’s new to the Duke Nukem franchise, I can say it pure sucks.

  2. Duke Nukem Forever seems to be to be some sort of gaming gag that you either got or you went out and bought it.

Duke Nukem was a product of the times, it’s content now is seen as fairly infantile and not what most people want. I was at the right age to appreciate the original DN and yeah it was crude and it was funny but that was the 90’s. I can’t defend the game because it has risque content if everytime Duke deliveres a line it makes me cringe.

I’ve heard people also saying that its because people are comparing it to COD and that it is simply an old school experiance to be enjoyed but my time with it has proven it to be more like COD then the Duke I loved. Auto refilling health meter, carry only 2 weapons at once, over powered enemies forcing you into cover every 2 minutes to avoid death.

I think the biggest issue the reviews of this game is that not all reviewers are being honest all the time. We shouldn’t have an industry that refuses to give reviewers copies of games if they said the last one they made was rubbish. I’d like to see games reviewed properly and if it is shit say it is shit. I’d like Modern Warfare 3 to get a poor score if there is little improvement over previous titles rather then the standard 9 because “it set the bar in MP”.
