inFAMOUS 2 Now Available On PSN In The US

Good news for our US readers who dislike Blu-rays and love to torment their broadband supplier with horrendously large downloads – inFAMOUS 2 is now available on the PSN!

The price for this slice of convenience is $60, with a 15GB file size. To be honest $60 doesn’t seem too bad when you consider the UK PSN version costs £50.

  1. Doesn’t it work out to be more or less the same, in terms of cost of the product itself? $60 at 1.6 GBP:USD is £37.50, but on £50 you’re paying £10 VAT at 20%, so it becomes £37.50 versus £40? That said, it’s not like you can avoid paying the VAT on the UK PSN version, so maybe £37.50 versus £50 is more accurate.

    • But the Americans pay $60 for new retain releases and we pay £40. However you look at it, we’re getting shafted.

Shameless plug: We covered this in pretty good detail on nuTSAck podcast episode 20 :)

      • retail**

      • That’s a fair point, we would pay around the £40 mark from a retailer like Amazon, or ShopTo, but aren’t Sony (or whoever determines the PSN price) only working to match the RRP (which is £50), rather than what we’d actually pay in the shops?

Just to help you with your plugging: “Oh, I am not aware of this nuTSAck podcast, but it is something that interests me greatly. Please, tell me more!” :)

      • I’m glad you asked, mugsy.
You can find nuTSAck podcast here on TSA in the Forums in the Gaming Banter area or you can go to http://www.nutsackpodcast.com for the archived episodes, downloads and comments sections. The last person to visit the site, is indeed, a rotten egg. ;)

  2. Well it retails at $59.99c so the deal at least mirrors its physical counterpart and is far more logical than the one on the UK store but it’s still throwing away money to me because there’s no resale value. Then there’s the space it takes up which can be a nuisance.

  3. i dunno about anybody else, but i think i’d find having a disc more convenient than a game taking up 15 gig of my hard drive.
at least with a disc when i need that space back i just take the disc out, which leaves a conveniently perfect game sized space. ^_^ and then when i want to play it again i just pop the disc in without having to wait hours for a download.

    that’s my idea of convenient.

once games are that big, the download option becomes less attractive, not only is there the space it requires, but how long it will take to download.
that’s without the fact that your purchase depreciates 100% as soon as you buy it, unlike the disc version.

    • Very true, though shelf space is also at a premium for me! That said, it’s becoming more and more of a problem having to shuffle what I keep on the hard drive; I’ve already upgraded to a 250gb (from a 60gb launch model which YLOD’d and was replaced by a 160gb slim) and it looks like I’ll need to upgrade further, and soon.

I’ve had Tomb Raider Underworld and Red Faction Guerrilla on the drive, and with the special offers following the PSN downtime I picked up the God of War collection – suffice to say I couldn’t keep them all on the hard drive at the same time, what with PSN downloads, trailers, music and the mandatory installs that come about from the 100+ blu ray games I’ve purchased over the years.

So, as you say, I’d rather have the convenience of a choice over crippling your hard drive over the convenience of not having to get up to change discs!

  4. 15 gb is all i have (60Gb)! of course once i finish Infamous that might clear a few GB but still i cant do it. i think before it is over i will need an extra HD for the updates. They just keep coming out and sucking up more of my free space.
